OSU

I wish PSU could have 5 minutes back in the game with OSU.

I noticed that when Wade is out of the lineup that OSU was able to score much easier. Although she was credited with 4 blocks, she actually had at least 6 and intimidated many other shots.

KV had no points and it is about time she got out of her scoring slump. When she is on, she is virtually unstoppable and I think her scoring will pick up when league play begins. Lexi continues to play excellent defense and will, hopefully, begin shooting like she did last year. When Karli replaced her, it was a plus offensively but a negative with respect to defense.

Kate DePaepe played only 8 minutes and she is simply too good of a player to sit on the bench for 32 minutes a game.

On to Sacramento State...................

Shut down our perimeter and we lose....We need to learn to play a better half court set: move the ball to move the defense for better open looks. We are not very good at doing that esp against a quick team. Our passing was not crisp, not quick and often just not happening. Fouls were a big problem and showed that we sometimes lacked quickness and sometimes the calls were just bad. Seemed to be a bunch in the first few minutes of play.

I heard an ESPN commentator recently say (this was in relation to Tennessee) that PG's who are also leading scorers inadvertently promote a situation where the team looks to them to score and stops looking to score themselves, they stop moving to get open and kind of stand flat footed watching and waiting for her to score, makes them less involved in offense. Seems like we may suffer from some of that at times, at other times we look good and share/move the ball well.

At least we didn't yak 3 balls so much this time but that's probably because no one could get an open look.

As you say on to Sacto

Yeah, passing was pretty bad. Even the guard to guard movement just didn't seem crisp, and we're always good for about three turnovers on long outlet passes trying to get a break going. If the outlet doesn't come out immediately, a long over the top pass is really risky. I'd rather see the ball controlled, then safely moved up court. Pretty good play late by that #11 (Rhea) for OSU. She seemed to get frustrated early with that technical foul, but really took control in the last five minutes.

yep she won it for them at the line and agree you can not do long outlet passes against a team that fast, odds are against that sort of play-making

That was definitely a hard-fought game. So close, but just lost it at the end. Both teams had really crappy shooting in the first half, but OSU's picked up in the second while ours didn't.

I am so glad Rhea got nailed for that technical. It was a pretty cheap shot at Claire.

Rhea looked pretty frustrated....didn't actually see the shot at claire; glad they called it though if deserved.
