Penalties - self inflicted pain

PENALTIES-Yards
2015 Eagles 81-692 opponent 53-436
Avg/Game 7.36-62.9 4.8-39.6
2016 3 games 31-271

The Eagles have GOT to clean this up. In addition to the # of yards, penalties stop our drives and extend drives of the opponent.
IMO the loss to Northern Iowa was directly attributable to the 15 penalties for 186 yards we had, thus costing us a playoff spot.

Then Clawman gets out of his WAYBACK machine and realizes it's 2016 :-) Not too worried about last year, but agree Eag's are still getting far too many penalties.

Posted earlier this week that EWU and NAU are two of the most penalized teams in the nation, cleaning it up would make winning a lot easier for the good guys.

They did well to keep the penalties in check tonight. This was probably the best Big Sky crew I've seen in a while; they kept the flags in their pockets.

Ask LSU about unforced penalties, ouch.

Not sure what to think clawman, last week you advocated for a big play in special teams and Custer delivers to start the comeback, this week you push the penalties button and EWU has 3 -35 yds or about 1 third of normal. Granted we all want fewer penalties, no TO's etc... Wanted to recognize the effort :thumb: .

Maybe you can clean up the extra points next time or improve late game tackling (think the altitude had something to due with it this week) :-)

Yep. Did watch the CP/Griz game yesterday and felt the officials did a good job there too. So looking forward to reasonable officiating throughout the Big Sky slate.
