Penguin Suspensions

Looks like some of their starters are in trouble. I'd rather face a first choice team.

Anyone have time to look into things?

Seems to be confirmed on the Youngstown forum. Someone is saying several players are suspended. Not much for names. I am sure we will hear tomorrow. The name Ruiz is floating around.

i wouldn't put too much stock into this kind of stuff. probably some sort of misdirection to create distraction. and even if it is true YSU is an excellent team, I dont think a couple of suspensions will have an effect on the outcome of the game.

Ruiz is apparently their first team MVFC RB. He only played one play yesterday, which I thought was really strange. Maybe this was somehow related. However, he shared time with another 1000 yard running back who also was an all conference player, and has been putting up big numbers in the playoffs. His name is Jody Webb. He put up over 200 yards on a top 10 rushing defense yesterday, and I thought he, and the YSU offensive line looked excellent. It brought back memories of Coprich, though Webb wasn't a bruising runner, but more quick and shifty. In any case, that's where their meat and potatoes are. If we can stop the run, I don't think their passing attack is all that great. If we can't stop the run, it will make their passing game effective.

OUCH
Vindy reports 12 players tested following Jacksonville State game. Four players will be suspended for substance abuse.

Pretty high percentage, 4 out of 12. Pelini should be glad they didn't test the entire team. Stay clean Eags.

That is what I was thinking....if it is a certain % does that trigger another group of testing...anyone know?

Ehh.. 33% is probably on the low side for any given college football team.

Is it true that if you participate in the postseason in the NCAA, your odds of getting tested are actually pretty high?

If I remember correctly, random testing during the regular season is rare and only tested for performance enhancing drugs. After the quarterfinal round, there is mandatory random testing that also tests for all banned substance (marijuana).

I guess if there is one good thing about it being legal here is that the kids are well aware of the rules and that they will get caught so stay away...FAR AWAY from it!

Is it marijuana they got popped for? The link doesn't elaborate. Could be something altogether different, I suppose. Unusually high testosterone levels?

Charles Grove reporting 1 impact player on offense, 2 impact players on defense and a 4th that plays a significant role he didn't say if that player was offense or defense. There will be a story in tonight's Vindicator and those players will not be making the trip. I think this is a high number to test positive out of the 12 that were tested..Very concerning

If a player violates the gifting rule the team could be forced to vacate those wins while he was playing. Reggie Bush comes to mind, in fact he had to give up his Heisman trophy as I recall. Could the NCAA vacate the YSU win vs Wofford if the affected players took an active part in the game?
