Leonard Perry will not return as an assistant coach next season. It wasn’t hard to see this coming since he was doing most of the coaching in huddles and a majority of in game decision making. He was looking to have a shot as head coach if Duft was fired and we all know how that worked out. Depending on who we get to replace him it will determine if we float or sink even lower in to the abyss. Other than Dan Russell our assistants are some of the worst the program has seen in recent years. Surprised we don’t see a total overhaul but also not surprised with how many people turned down Duft last season (6) before he got Perry to agree to come.

Sinking ship mentality...
The total overhaul will likely happen only when it includes HC Duft!! Surprised that Russell (& his father-in-law volunteer assistant??) haven't bailed. Worried that Eric Daniels might try returning if Duft wasn't renewed, but he's now moving on as assistant on Utah's staff (after being at USU). Of course he still might in the future.
Perhaps the purple fog will lift in the declining men's BB program after AD Crompton, donors, etc. finally see that WSU needs to put the Rahe/Duft connection into past history & move on.
It's all a roll of the dice, nothing as to progress is guaranteed, but this program needs a total overhaul obviously. That's if Duft doesn't miraculously turn things around (meaning vie for a championship run} in the next one, two, three years the program is stuck with him. Anyone hear what the "official" contract extension terms are for Duft?? Tight lipped, lame, lazy PR from the athletic dept. continues on.
