Post title would be more appropriate for Northern Colorado’s football team as basketball program is good…still a big butt kicking…again for the Wildcats. Not a great start. We’ll see if they can pick up the pieces and see if they can put them together, but most likely looking at a 5th or so place finish in my opinion.

Has this program hit such a rock bottom that Olds won’t even reply anymore? You can’t hide the fact there is an obvious disconnect between the players and staff. This isn’t an NIL issue. We have the best overall talent in the conference in terms of individual skill and we haven’t lost anyone due to “poaching” from bigger schools. NBA player Dillon Jones is the only reason Duft doesn’t have a very bad sub .500 record in his tenure. I hate to spew so much negativity but I want this program to succeed so bad that it’s necessary to get people to see

When’s the last time things looked so bleak for football and basketball at the same time? My fandom goes back 15 years and during the Sears years we had Lillard. I need someone else to weigh in on this.

I think Wildcats went 1-10 in 2004 under Graybeal and 14-16 in basketball under Cravens. In 2005 Wildcats went 10-17 under Cravens, but under Mcbride’s first year, football improved to 6-5. Other than that, I think you have to go back to 1986 when Wildcats went 7-22 under Larry Farmer and 3-8 under Mike Price.

Looking like basketball team could start 0-5 in conference…this could be 1986 all over again. It’s one year after Back to the Future came out…dang that tells you how historically bad things are. Maybe we can get in the DeLorean, travel back in time and stop the Wildcats from hiring Crompton as AD 😂.

With Crompton being an assistant coach for one year who then became coach for 15 years, I think he just wanted to hope assistants on staffs would work out like his situation.

I just don’t want Crompton making the next hires. I’d put more trust in letting the fans vote on a list of applicants who apply.

The difference back then & now is pronounced. Graybeal was let go as head football coach although he did become athletic director. Cravens was fired after two losing seasons. Larry Farmer was also fired after three losing seasons. The worst basketball coaching hire [perhaps second to letting Duft replace Randy Rahe without a national search] Dummy Huston [oops I mean Denny Huston] was fired after three consecutive losing seasons and don't forget Jody Sears was fired after only two disastrous seasons. Let's not forget that several other coaches were gone after failing to live up to expectations. That was the past -- not the present state of affairs in WSU athletics.

Now it seems that under the current athletic department administration & university administration nobody in the athletic department from coaches to the promotions department or anybody in this once proud department is held accountable for doing their jobs properly or helping maintain the athletic excellence that we had in the past. So sad when losing & mediocrity are the accepted norm.
