Players transferring

Also picked up an assistant coach, Dondrale Campbell from Northern Colorado, where he was player development director. He was a teammate of Lillard's in high school and has been a coach at Dame's Formula Zero camp.
He must be my long lost brother.;-) Changed his last name to through everyone off track.

Looks to me like they are trying to decide whether to use whatever resources they have left for just one player or two. If it is just one, they will likely go for a power player of some sort. Those are the hardest, and most expensive, to get. If it is two players, then they will just get the best they can get with what they have to offer. When it comes to portal transfers, you don't hear much about them until they commit or sign.

If they just went with what they have now, it would certainly be a great group of talent. As we all know, it takes more than talent to win championships. Hard work and dedication are just as important. I have high hopes for this group to become a winning team. We shall see.

It looks like Jorge is taking a job with High Point. I don't know any of the particulars.
Good for him and I feel equally as good for Weber. A above average recruiter but we need assistants with a presence on the practice court and more in game knowledge which he lacked. Hopefully he can improve that side at High Point

Yes, I feel that he needed more and varied experiences to progress as a coach. When Randy made him a full assistant, he began to do more and more at practices and in games. This past year, he seemed to get more assertive in all aspects of the job. This sounds like a great opportunity for him. I'm just glad that he stuck around to help Kaleb and Dame with recruiting. As soon as Kaleb hit town, they seemed to hit the ground running and a big part of that was Jorge's knowledge of the local area and players with previous relationships with Weber.

We got two more commitments from Utah HS players. One a 6'3'' guard out of Timpview, who is headed out on a mission and will be in the 2028 class, Lincoln Holcombe, shooting splits 51/40/80. The other is a returning missionary, who originally had signed with UC Irvine, a 5'11'' PG, out of Olympus. He was a two time Mr Basketball for Utah and a three time State 5A campion. He averaged 25.3 pts, 5.4 reb, 5.8 ast, 3.5 stl per game as a senior. I think that leaves us with one potential spot left.

Olds, Gavin Lowe just graduated from High School (https://prephoops.com/player/gavin-lowe/). Not sure if Lowe is a mission kid or not. If he is, we have 2. If not, we have 1 and its got to go to be a big.

Yes. I see that now. Not sure how that got into my head. At least one of them, maybe both, are mission bound. There are still some really good big men left in the portal. Who knows if we have enough money to land them. I don't think they would take on any projects at the post positions now. It would have to be someone who could be an immediate impact player. The guys out there who would fit our needs, have been holding out for bigger bucks. I have a feeling that much of the money that bigger programs had for portal players has been spoken for already, so who knows. We may have someone fall into our lap. I'm a bit surprised that there are as many quality big men still available in the portal. It must have something to do with them not getting the NIL money offers they expected. That may also explain why Saine is still unsigned in the portal. Overly high expectations can hurt a player's options in the portal. I feel that their agents are feeding them the wrong information.

Gavin is not a mission recruit. Good player and get. I don’t know the other from Timpview but welcome to Weber State. I like the commitment of the new coach to recruit locally.
