Every Eastern fan is GEEKED for this one. The only thing better than playoff football is being in the stadium during playoff football. Know Eag fans will show up big! I envy everyone who can make the game.

Easy to draw different conclusions based on the level of competition Nicholls faced in San Diego. IMO their offense presents a lot like UC Davis without the big playmakers at WR but a mobile QB who plays heads up. Their OL is solid but expect our DL to make plays. Lots of observers noted they looked faster than San Diego, they are not faster than Eastern. If this was 2017 Eagles, would be concerned that their playmakers could keep them in the game, but the 2018 Eagles have not allowed this to happen. Mature team and coaching is all the difference.

They played the same way against Incarnate Word a few weeks ago. Defensively active on the DL with average LB's and DB's. Eastern can lean on them and should all game long. Assume they will try to bring pressure early. Our WR's should take advantage with quick slants, screens to the RB's and passes to the flats and it wouldn't surprise me to see one have a career day. Colonels will over pursue and EB3 could go off for some big plays on the read option.

Eastern shouldn't be doing anything differently in this one, execute on offense and defense, take care of the ball, limit the big plays and wear Nicholls down. Just don't think Nicholls has shown the physicality we've seen from the top Southland teams in the past; SHSU or UCA. It's not like they don't have weather in LA, just not the type of weather they will face in Cheney. 37 and wet... Nasty.

McPherson and Custer for over 200 yards; EB3 for 90 and 240 passing; one big special teams play; and 7 stops +2 TO's on Defense...

Eastern wins this one 45 - 24.

My mind is a simple one;

A) Nicholls St. wins their first playoff game in 32 years. *To bad it was against a team with no scholarships (tainted with an asterisk).
B) They let a non-scholarship team score 30pts on them. EWU would not have.
C) They only scored 49pts on a non-scholarship team. EWU would have scored 49pts the first half.
D) Ergo, we win 44-14 as D gets a safety and we rest some starters.
E) It's gonna be crappy and this time in our favor.

Although Nicholls won, the level of play was several notches below Big Sky competition. Expectation: The Colonels lose, but receive some excellent on-field education. Expecting a clean game, but expecting to see the Nicholls HC lose his cool. Eags: 52 Cols: 13

For all my fellow degenerates- 5dimes has the Eags -20.5. That's a pretty big spread for a 2nd round playoff.

FormerEag, you're right that it does seems high for a second rd game...only NDSU vs MSU may be similiar.

I hope I'm wrong, but I see this as a fairly competitive game, Eastern *should* win, but this doesn't seem like a forgone conclusion. Nicholls State has some quality players. Will Louisiana boys survive the chilly conditions? That will be a factor.

Of the three seeded Big Sky teams, I think Eastern got the toughest first game. I'm not buying UNI or SEMO. My hunch is Nicholls is quite a bit better than either.

63-10 EAGS!

I'll owe you a second beer if you are anywhere near close. So far as I'm concerned, I'm happy to buy you a whole lotta beers if Eastern keeps winning by big margins.

The two deep has been posted. No Williams at DE, Prunty is backup behind Hayes at Safety.

Despite Grady's lack of production catching the ball, he has done a great job blocking. Read this as a signal the Eag's will be running the ball, throwing bubbles to the quicker WR's and generally cramming it down Nicholls throat.

I wouldn't read too much into a published two-deep. It's just used as a guide for the media. If someone isn't on it, it doesn't mean they're out. Conversely, someone on the two-deep isn't a guarantee they'll play.

Davis beat SD by 33, Nichols only by 19...so Davis is 14 points better than Nichols and we are 39 points better than Davis which makes us 53 points better than Nichols...

So simple math says 60-7
