Every Eastern fan is GEEKED for this one. The only thing better than playoff football is being in the stadium during playoff football. Know Eag fans will show up big! I envy everyone who can make the game.
Easy to draw different conclusions based on the level of competition Nicholls faced in San Diego. IMO their offense presents a lot like UC Davis without the big playmakers at WR but a mobile QB who plays heads up. Their OL is solid but expect our DL to make plays. Lots of observers noted they looked faster than San Diego, they are not faster than Eastern. If this was 2017 Eagles, would be concerned that their playmakers could keep them in the game, but the 2018 Eagles have not allowed this to happen. Mature team and coaching is all the difference.
They played the same way against Incarnate Word a few weeks ago. Defensively active on the DL with average LB's and DB's. Eastern can lean on them and should all game long. Assume they will try to bring pressure early. Our WR's should take advantage with quick slants, screens to the RB's and passes to the flats and it wouldn't surprise me to see one have a career day. Colonels will over pursue and EB3 could go off for some big plays on the read option.
Eastern shouldn't be doing anything differently in this one, execute on offense and defense, take care of the ball, limit the big plays and wear Nicholls down. Just don't think Nicholls has shown the physicality we've seen from the top Southland teams in the past; SHSU or UCA. It's not like they don't have weather in LA, just not the type of weather they will face in Cheney. 37 and wet... Nasty.
McPherson and Custer for over 200 yards; EB3 for 90 and 240 passing; one big special teams play; and 7 stops +2 TO's on Defense...
Eastern wins this one 45 - 24.
