Portland State @ Eastern Washington - Guess the score

Against Sac St. he got sacked 10 times but still threw for 300 something yards and yesterday he had 408 yards against SDSU.

I guess they started using the shotgun and limited sacks to 3 this game. But yes he does tend to scramble a lot.

Over 1000 yrds total offense, classic BSC football, and the second comings of Neil Lomax and Eric Meyer - Eastern wins the track meet 45-42.

Why did PSU decide to switch to the shotgun? Too many sacks given up? And do you guys think it's made your QB more effective?

We're worst in the country in Division I for sacks allowed. :-(

Not good and something had to be done.

Well, that will do it.

We could have used another home win before this game. I remember watching the last one in Washington on tv. Oh boy was that unpleasant to watch. The forecast says this one will be in the slop too. I hope PSU can turn it around, but I'm not optimistic.

I'm gonna say PSU 45-35, the eagles haven't really played anybody yet (although I realize they beat a team that beat the Viks), I think the offense is progressing and with our defense a little healthier than most of the game last week they'll have just enough to keep us in it.

Davis was a ranked team when we beat them, and we beat them convincingly - the score doesn't really reflect that. Regardless, they are a pretty decent team, as you know. As far as the NAIA team and ISU, I'll give you those. But even with throwing the NAIA game out, we beat ISU badly. ISU did not play well, but they still have some good talent and will win some games this year.

But as I have said before, I think it should be a close game and I'm not buying into the hpe yet. We have to get through games like this - it will be a challenge for sure.

Hey Eagle_Power, Did ISU look as bad as the box score indicated?

Short answer, yes. They yards and points they did get were mainly in garbage time. I only listened to the game - but they were clearly outmatched IMHO. Main problem for them was all the turnovers. They switched QB's in the second quarter, I believe, and he didn't do much better. With that said, they do have some talented skill position guys. My guess is that they will probably in the middle of the BSC this year.

What the scores can't tell us is "Have the Vikings improved enough to overcome their injury problems and beat a very good Eastern team in Cheney." I hope they have improved enough since this is the first of the Vikings' win or out conference games.

I've seen coach Glanville around campus talking to players and he still seems quite positive. I'd look for the Vikings to show us something this weekend, maybe with players doing well that haven't done much yet. If it rains maybe Nee, if not maybe Ken Mackins.

I hope you're right. Dare I say 'breakout' game, but I figure we're due for a game where we actually click and get some of the bounces to go our way. Momentum is huge and hopefully we can get it, and keep it this weekend.
