Portland State Football 2007 Schedule

Bozz Hoggz said:
Yeah, well ok, but next year I'd like our schedule to look more like last years with at least 2 div1 schools and one ranked in the top 25 because I think next years team will be very good under the 2nd year of the ol ball coach and if we hold our own against a ranked div1 team we will be getting looks from above. This years schedule is very beatable and I see us barring any setbacks going very far into the playoffs. /users/31/07/37/smiles/mw_thumb.gif

I don't mind playing I-A schools but I don't want schools with RB's that are in contention for the Heisman Trohpy(Marshawn Lynch), I want to play schools like Utah State, Idaho, Colorado State, those type of schools, not California, Oregon, Boise State, Hawaii, Oregon State, those kind of schools

I like the schedule this year, last years schedule was the difference between a playoff birth and staying home, We can win our OOC games this year, unlike last year

I think we should play lowly WAC-MWC schools

I don't want to see us ever play a PAC-10 school (unless its Stanford, who we could probably beat. I'll take ANY WAC school. Remember that 2 years ago we were beating Boise State until the 4th quarter. With a good showing against a WAC school, and a potential win, its shows really well for our program.

Bring on Boise State. Bring on Hawaii. Bring on Fresno State.

I'd love FSU, they are struggling, Hawaii, they are on the rise and to strong, Boise is Boise, not sure about them

I doubt we would be able to do some of things we did in the past again, teams like New Mexico, Hawaii, BSU, they have learned their lesson, I personally don't want to strech our luck to far

I will take on any WAC school but UH and BSU, I think alot of people don't realize that those 2 programs are rising to a new level

just look how both teams finished(below are clickable links)

Boise lives a dream

Hawaii Trashes ASU

Hawaii just had a Top 50 recruiting class and the 4th best JC recruiting class in america, they are looking to te

Boise just lived a dream, it can't get much better, money and pubilicty are going through the roof, Jared Zabransky is on the front cover of NCAA football 2008(believe it or not

) They had a pretty good class themsleves

those are 2 programs that shouldn't be in the WAC football wise, but any other team there, Nevada, Fresno, NMSU, etc. we can beat, IMO UH and bSU are no-no's just like PAC-10 schools

PSU Admin,

Stretch our luck?? Did you forget who we are and what we're about? I think PSU would be able to contend with about 75% of all Div1 teams and beat a lot of them. Playing Hawaii would be great for building fan base and Im sure jerry would be able to make it into tha 'Thrilla In Hawaiia' game we all would want it to be. I think you're being a little too conservative in trying to win every game. I mean, really, is 11-1 really that bad??

this past year we learned our lesson the hard way, because of scheduling so many I-A games we ended up losing a playoff bid to MSU, I d watching Cal beat on our QB's and Oregon embarrass us, you look at schools like Hawaii and Boise, they would smash us

All I'm saying is we have a better oppurtunity at what really matters, a championship, if we play schools we can beat

I mean come on, Hawaii? We beat NM by 11 who lost to SJSU by 10 who lost to Hawaii by 47, the Warriors score in bunches, just look at that video in my post above

Boise, yes we played them well a few years ago, watched the whole game, thought we could win, do you really think BSU will ever take us lightly again? don't think

Lets play Utah State, Colorado State, Stanford, those kind of schools, not schools on the verge of a BCS Bowl game

I like the optimism but like I said, lets not strech our luck

agreed. but maybe just maybe if we win or even come close to winning the national championship this year we could schedule 1 blockbuster school. This would give us possibly national tv airtime, bringing in a lot of money, and more importantly, based on our play, a chance to knock off an impossible foe and bring us to glorified status at the Div1AA level.

If we were to knock of an opponent of the calibur of california or heck even oregon, the move to I-A talk will reach its top, we already heard it alot after the NM game

I just want more at our level

say we beat.........Boise over there, yeah we get the attention the money all that fun stuff.......but we lose to montana MSU and NAU

After beating nM it was all good and fun but scheduleing to many schools like them hurt us to the point where we no longer had the REAL oppurtunity, lets finish whats first, a BSC championship, then aim for the national title, then go after Hawaii, Boise, California, The Oakland Raiders(

) all those teams

At On Deck the other night, some people were asking JG is we were going to schedule another game at Hawaii, considering all the connections between coaching staffs, and hey was like, "No way would they schedule us. They're scared now and they know we'd beat 'em."

lol JG said that? I think he is refering to UH's scheduling issue, not that they are scared of us

USC, Michigan, and Texas, have all chickend out on uH cause their COACHES think they would lose to UH

I'll be flat out honest, if we were to play UH, I'd be happy if we kept it under 40

I think keeping D-1 powers off the schedule is a good idea, but I'd like to see UO again. However, I think they should come to Portland. I know they wouldn't make as much money, but they'd reach a different set of fans from the ones they get in Eugene. PGE is fairly large for a 1aa/championship subdivision school's stadium. I think if we offered a fair price, teams might come.

UO will never come. We could probably put 35k max in PGE Park with east bleachers being put in for the game.

For the Women's World Cup, bleachers were jammed into nearly every available nook and cranny... and the capacity was only 27K.

When PGE Park was Civic Stadium, without the suites dominating the "home plate cormer" and with the centerfield bleachers, it did hold 35K (Soccer Bowl 1977). Some of the downsizing is "permanent" as these things go.

Oregon is not going to visit a 1-AA school. In the past, they've visited Nevada and Utah State, and were due to make another Reno visit before the Oklahoma opportunity arose... I think 30K is as low as they go for stadia. They're certainly not giving up this year's game at Michigan...

PSU will beat San Diego State.

My prediction: 9-2; 7-1 in Big Sky play. Montana is the lone loss in BSC play. McNesse State could be a loss as well.

I'm in agreance with wyokie, I think we might take a L from the first game of the season. They will be tough and the climate can play a major roll in the game, plus it will be the first game that the boys will play in with the new coaching staff as well and the new offensive system so therefore there is alot ridding on that game! Cal Poly will not be a easy game either they stuff MSU in a shoe box at home last year and from my understanding they didn't lose many star players. The good thing is that we get poly at our home opener this year and if we do well and beat McNeese I'm pretty sure attendance will be huge! I actually think that we will have a good chance of beating the Griz at home for the first time this year, the teams I'm worried about are the away games that the players dont take serious enough.

I think we have a very good chance of going undefeated this year but we could also have a season like we did last year too.
