Portland State @ Idaho State Thread

We should roll ISU pretty hard in this game. We're coming off of one of our worst defensive games, but we had the bye week to try to get healthly and work on some things. I really don't see us giving up 5.8 per rush like we did against ISU, and ISU's passing game isn't exactly lighting it up this year. I think the defense will rebound and hold ISU to under 24 points.

On offense, this could get ugly for ISU. The offensive line is starting to click on their blocking schemes and that compiled with the mixture of shotgun and under center run/pass play calling has nullified the ability to cause problems with the PSU offense with the blitz. We're seeing better routes and White and the receivers are generally more in tune with each other. Add to this the fact that we're playing in a dome that doesn't get very loud and we're on very fast turf, and you have a long day for the ISU defense.

Blowout win by PSU this week.

Bengal fans don't think they have much hope.

BTW am I the only one itching for the UM game?

All of our losses aside, I am getting closer and closer to thinking we can beat the grizzlies. Morning practices for the Viks since day one will have a surprising effect on their readiness for the 11:00am PT game in MIssoula. The bye week will alow injuries to heal. Two more conference wins for the Viks will make it a huge game.

I'm ever the optimist but I feel the same way you do...I'm not sure why as I've been disppointed for years with losses to Montana at Montana...something has gotta give...maybe this year with Montana not scoring as high as in previous years they'll struggle to stay with PSU's high powered offense...Go Viks! /users/31/07/37/smiles/595146.gif

Let's not overlook ISU. I think PSU should win easily, but as far as UM, only winning until they get there makes it important. If they lose before that, the game doesn't matter. Winning @ ISU and @ home against Weber will put the pressure on.

I was thinking the same thing. Idaho State has been pretty bad this year but the difference in talent between the worst team and the best team in the Big Sky isn't that great (with possibly the exception on UNC). Especially with this game being on the road we better come ready to play or we will head home with a loss.

The Weber game will be even tougher and with the way they took care of Sac St. I'm glad this game will be at home. I think the schedule works out pretty nice and hopefully we'll roll into Montana at 4-4 (4-1), but the team's gotta take it one game at a time.

Encouraging tidbit from Ian's blog:

"...this might be as healthy as the Vikings have been since Week 2. Getting Schantz, Mackins and Stone back from their injuries should make a big difference. And from what I can tell, there doesn't seem to be any reason why any of them should be limited in any way."
