Portland State @ McNeese State Game Thread

That was tough to watch down at the School of Business gathering. It was a nice event, though. Everybody rallied around shared love of the Viks and shared hatred for the MSU announcers on that Southland feed. Hopefully this will become a regular event for road games.

I'm a Cowboy fan but I can certainly understand the hatred for the MSU announcers. They annoy me to no end!

I know it was a tough loss for your Viks (and the Cowboys certainly have things to work on as well), but it was just the first game, and unlike the FBS, one game doesn't make a season. I'm sure the Viks will continue to improve. Make lots of noise in the Big Sky! You'll have a lot of Cowboy fans pulling for you.

And should both teams be fortunate enough to make the playoffs, I hope we are on opposite sides of the bracket! :-)

Geaux Cowboys!
Go Viks!

I think you guys can take hope in the fact that 1) your team only had a total of 9 starters back from last season (as I read it) and 2) it was the first game under a new system using players recruited to run a different one.

The first game is always the toughest, don't know what to expect. Cowboys have had their share of shoot yourself in the foot games. It was a pleasure watching two quality teams play this well in the first game of the season. I was impressed by PSU's special teams. Should be a good year. Good luck.

I hope the PSU fans are as kind and as welcoming as the Cowboy fans were to the Viking supporters. Thank you for your hospitality.

BlueQ, how was the tailgating? Good eats?

Thank you BlueQ, we have learned things go better with civility than bile. The deeper into the playoff's you get the more gracious you become, it works. When it comes too football fans, who wants to hear "the team" downed.

No excuses, McNeese you beat us, period. I could argue if we would have scored touchdowns instead of field goals, etc., but even if the Viks had, I still think at this point the team in blue and yellow looked faster and better. I hope PSU learned something in defeat, but the biggest blows in my opinion were the loss of McClintock and some of the local hype because of the defeat. Nothing that a few wins won't change. Good luck on the rest of the season.

The tailgating was great. So many vehicles and manner of preparing the food which I loved. Let's see. I had 'gator for the first time, etoufee, and some other items that were good but I wasn't clear what the ingredients were other than seafood. But clearly, the highlight was the friendliness of the people that made the greatest impression. Good luck for the remainder of the season.
