Portland State @ Montana Thread

Is Roper going to start? Looks like he started against Davis, but it looks like he must have been pulled for Selle.

Portland State football: Special teams become newest area marked for clean-up

I'm still wondering what was going on with Aaron Woods last Saturday. It looked like he was extremely nervous, but he was solid against OSU. Plus, he is a senior. I really hope this won't be a recurring issue. What could you possibly teach a senior about fielding/returning that he doesn't already know, or at least should know?

Present and accounted for. A typical start for the Griz with a typical outcome... not pretty but somehow it's a W. You're up against that, Wa-Griz, and history. So we've got the odds. But this team's been iffy for years and Portland is always a key worry. I wouldn't bet a pile on this one. Hope to see a bunch of green in the Zoo.

Sadly we haven't seen much out of the Viks to warrant much of a hope against the Griz. The Griz are solid. They pull out wins while they get things figured out. I expect a game similar to last year with a score of 28-12.

It's true that for some time the Griz have managed W's while trying to get things right. But that seems pretty far from "solid". "We have met the enemy and he is us."

Go, Viks, go!

Same here though. Last Saturday, Southern Oregon wasn't even a factor on the field. We could have won by 60 points if it hadn't been for a series of stupid and avoidable mistakes. Of course, SOU is a Div-II team, but it wasn't that much different in the Oregon State game. We played well, but without a couple mistakes, we would have lost by a smaller margin.

If we avoid injuries, I have no doubt that we can get pretty good over the course of the season. My hope is that we will go through some tough schooling in September (against Montana and Weber State) and then beat the crap out of the rest of the Big Sky. We have a good shot at a winning record, assuming that that we...

win against Sac. State, NCU, Montana State, and ISU

lose to Montana and Weber State

and lose no more than two games against NAU, EWU, and UCD.

I was worried about Montana State, but after their heroic victory against Division II powerhouse Dixie State (

), I'm not so worried anymore.

Yeah, well I remember sitting in the stands in Portland that late October day in 2004, watching the Griz - soon to play in the NC - lose.

A mere 5 years ago! Seems like forever.

If you're not pumped up for the Montana game yet, watch this video. It is the best produced video I've seen on goviks.com.

No kidding! The marketing team is definitely putting it together with this and the high volume of billboards in town. It'd be nice if they could really find a way to turn that into ticket sales.

Yikes. I hope Woods is able to play.

Good luck against Montana, fellas! Go into Wa-Griz and hang a big win against 'em!
That's not nice. How about I wish NCU good luck at home? Follow that with Weber at home and you're 1-3 - and out.
