Wholly sh*t I-5 was a freaking mess today with OSU, UO, and Oktoberfest going on. I think our total drive time today was over six hours.
69-0. Ugly. Well, at least we did better than New Mexico. ;-)
I'll give credit where credit is due. That UO squad is really, really good. They are so, so very fast on offense and defense. We were just outmatched by superior athletes on the field today.
I really wanted us to get on the board to avoid the shutout, but it just didn't seem to happen. That offsides penalty where JT caught a TD was close, that Rau fumble recovery was close to being returned, and that Brown kick for 52 sailed left. If Hutter could have pulled that ball down in the third, I think he would have been gone.
There's a lot to clean up. Penalties, dropped passes, and general missed assignments on defense.
Some random thoughts/questions:
~What was the reason that Duyndam sat for four punts? Also, can you remember the last time that we punted for 461 yards in a game?
~The UO mascot must have arms of steel after doing all of the pushups with the 72-0 and 69-0 wins at home.
~Play selection today tells me that Burton's main goal is to dominate the ground game. Time after time we pounded the ground game with McCaffrey and Griffin against a top five team. Seems that the coaching staff wants to get this right for conference play.
~Is it me or did Howland adjust every play at the line so that he could throw to JT?
~Don't believe the lie. It does rain at Autzen Stadium.
