PSU seems to have been in a steady state of decline since they got a new coach a few years back. Many of us, at the beginning of the season, thought they would do much better than they have. Once again, could it be that their communities unwillingness to spring for a new facility, is costing them the ability to recruit any of the higher ranked players, much like Sac and UNC. Honestly, I don't know how you can get any good players to want to sign up to play in those rat holes. They probably don't even take recruits to see their gyms.

I expect PSU to come in and pretend to play hard for a few minutes, before they completely roll over.

They sure aren't going to play much defense.

WSU rolls! Pick any score you want cats!!! :thumb:

I am hoping that Weber comes out focused, they are very fortunate to still be 16-2.

PSU is not a good team, but as we all know teams get up to play us and we will definetely get the best of what PSU has to offer. Or maybe not, since Portland State has been eliminated they might not care as much.

Im thinking the first half is close, then Weber pulls away in the 2nd and we win 75-54

I can't imagine that they would have any kind of focus. The players will be thinking about where they will be going to schools next year and the coaches will be thinking about getting their resume' into publication.

That is a program in disarray.

I will be very disapointed if we don't blow them off the floor. I think that Randy will have our guys ready to go. :coffee:

Portland State was the only other team last year, other than Montana and Weber, to have a winning record in the Big Sky. And if I remember correctly, it took some late game heroics from Lillard and Wheels to preserve a Weber State victory over PSU, and a chance to play in the title game of the Big Sky tournament.

Yet, agreed Olds, I think PSU is starting to sink. But there is something to be said of Gevings ability to get recruits and what he did when the Vikings were under probation for the APR issues left by Bone. I wouldn't be surprised, merely based on what he was able to accomplish his first couple of seasons with less scholarships, that he gets a contract renewal at the end of the season. However, I'm guessing it won't be longer than two seasons, with options to release/fire him if he doesn't win a specific number of games. But then again, I wouldn't be that surprised if he is released at the end of the season and PSU goes in a different direction.

I can't see why the Stott or the Butt-cock pavilion at UNCO are detracting teams from being able to recruit. PSU represented the Sky at two consecutive NCAAs in the past decade and hosted another Big Sky tournament in 04-05, and the cubbies went dancin two years ago. Also, the cubbies are an extremely talented team that loses nobody this season. I called it two years ago, but the cubbies, if they can fix their PG issues, will be very dangerous next year and could make some noise finishing this season. Hill isn't much of a coach, so that might affect the cubbies too.

One area of concern in this one...Aaron Moore and Parker took it too the Cats in December...Can't allow them to get in sync this week against the Cats. Weber has to play better interior defense.

I hope we will be allowed to play defense inside this time, we couldnt down in Flagstaff, hence the fouls on all our bigs

What happened in Flagstaff is not likely to happen in Ogden. We have had the more experienced refs at most of our games. When we haven't, they have at least tried to keep the foul count somewhat even. The farther off the beaten path you get, in the BSC, the worse officiating you get. The more experienced ref like to work in a place where they can fly in and have a short drive to the venue. It's also important to have other services within a stones through of the venue. They do need to eat and sleep. They don't like to work in rat infested, stink holes either. Can't say that I blame them. :coffee:

If there really are a lot of seats going for 50 cents, there is no reason there shouldnt be a pretty good size crowd tomorrow.

All seats in sections 5 and 6 are 50 cents.

Okay so here come the Vikings. Will PSU be beaten before the game is even played? Or will the Vikings come out and try to play spoiler here?

My guess is that PSU will come out with a chip on their shoulder, nothing to play for post-season, wanting to be the ants at a picnic in someone else's place. Not a fan of coach Geving, having seen him in action for a few years with talent at PSU, but can't seem to pull them together.

THink this game will be different than our December road trip- at that point, we had not played many games, our team rhythm is better now and we are pretty good shape physically.

I predict Weber by 14.

Yeah...Geving is a total baby. He acts pretty childish at times on the floor. It seems he is more interested in yelling at the refs and crying about every single play than coaching his team. I think it may be time for PSU to head in a different direction. Things aren't getting any better for the Vikings.

What will the attendance be for Thursday? 8-9k? Can we get 10k even on spring break?

Well seeing as we hardly even get students to games now and have still been able to get over 7K for four straight games then yes, but Im thinking we get around 6,986 tomorrow.
