Portland State

Their broadcast had an add for a new basketball facility? I hope this is true. This would add a lot to the big sky. Portland is a nice city, and I would imagine, with a better gym, they could recruit some talent.

It's currently under construction and set to open in 2018. The existing gym/court will be our practice facility.

Wait...they are building a new gym? I thought that the plan was to expand the existing gym. Not complaining...either way is a great deal for PSU. I love the plans of the new Stott. Looks like one classy pad. Just hoping that PSU moves that worthless jumbo-tron. Really no reason to have that in the current facility. Definitely superfluous for such a small court.

Eh, it's sort of new They basically gutted and demolished everything east of the existing lobby, so it's essentially a new building attached to the old one.

There's a live cam to show the progress: http://www.goviks.com/sports/2017/1/5/live-pavilion-cam.aspx

According to the Vikings fan board. Lillard was present at the Stott to cheer on the Cats.

Never heard it mentioned other than that.

Forgive me if I missed it, but the PSU announcer is either ignorant or just plain classless by never even mentioning that Jeremy broke the conference record.

I didn't hear him say it either, unless he said it during halftime when I wasn't watching.

I remember when Trevin Smith broke Weber State's career rushing record. The game was literally stopped at ISU and he his accomplishment was recognized. The ISU and Weber State fans both applauded his efforts and record. It was a very classy thing to do in Poky.

I'm guessing the announcer wasn't aware. Or may have simply forgot by the time there was a break in the action. No matter, I hope that Weber does something on Thursday to recognize Jeremy's achievement.

Sweet improvements happening at PSU. Who is funding it? I mean, who is the principal donor? It seemed as if Viking Athletics hadn't raised all the needed funds. At least, that is what is seemed like in the commercial being run online. If so, that is somewhat different from Utah. Here in Utah, you can't break ground unless you have all the funding required to build the project. Hence, why we are waiting for a couple more donations for our North Endzone project.

24m in state bonds
1.5m in student fees
7.5 from Oregon Health Sciences University
17m in private donations

As of last April or so we still needed about 5m in private, but I'm not sure how close that is to being fully raised at this point. If I recall, the money put up by OHSU pushed this project from planning and fund raising to scheduling shovels to hit the ground.
