Daniel Hill has been inconsistent handling the ball and totally inept defensively, basically he hasn't developed enough to compete at this level. He is a talented kid, but undersized and at this point still is not a viable option. Sir Washington hasn't been a great shooter so far, but he has done well with the ball in his hands and has been an excellent defender. Harvey is an average defender, but an excellent shooter and ball handler, Drew is an outstanding ball handler, plus defender and an average shooter, plus shooter if you count in his ability to penetrate and own the paint.
As far as burning a red shirt, they've done that in the past (Harvey), but I doubt they will for this season. I expect they'll look to other guys to step up, namely Von Hofe, Bliznyuk and Moon. They have the depth to be just fine if Harvey can just stay available. A lot is riding on Drew Brandon to run this offense, but I think there is enough trust there that Coach will not make the move at this point.
All of that is just my opinion, but it gels with what Coach has said and done so far. For instance he's had Moon and Bliznyuk both playing multiple positions from 3 to 5 at various points.
