Possible Sellout?

If we’re ever going to sell out, now is the time. I’m not sure if it’s accurate, but according to the ticket website we have about 8,000 tickets left. I’m sure thousands will show up without tickets, so it’s best to avoid lines and buy online.

It seems like we are doing a great job marketing the game and I have heard several radio ads and seen a ton of media. I’m not expecting a sellout, but I’m hoping for the biggest crowd I have ever seen at a Weber game.

One thing I have not seen is online and Facebook ads. A few hundred dollars in targeted marketing would go a long way. Has anyone seen any ads or does anyone know if we have an online marketing person?

I have seen a bunch of Facebook ads and have shared almost every single one of them Even the Ogden raptors had an ad for the football game

If we have already sold 10,000 seats, I would guess we will sell another 2-3000 between now and game time.

The last time we came close to a sellout was a long time ago, against USU. At least, that is what I recall. :coffee:

I guarantee they haven't sold 10,000 tickets

Actually the last time we "sold out" was in McBride's first game vs Western State. 17,597 fans were at the game. I remember they even brought in extra temp seating for the game.

Based on what can still be purchased online, there are likely closer to 6,000 sold with ~11,000 still available for purchase. With it being a holiday weekend and on short notice, I will be surprised if attendance exceeds our average game attendance by more than a 1000.

Yes, targeted Facebook ads are running in full force. I promise ... ;-)

I'm hoping that there will be a ton of students show up and that the walk up crowd is equally huge.
Come on Wildcat Nation, show up and represent.

It felt like at least 10k and was very loud! It sounds like the reported attendance was low. Maybe they didn’t include students who got in free. Either way, Weber should have got it’s money back on the bid. I’m gonna guess the bid was around 70k, so 6800x14(or more) would more than cover. Also, any extra goes to the NCAA. THANK YOU Bovee for making this happen and THANKS to Wildcat Nation for showing up! Especially, THANK YOU players and coaches for all your hard word and dedication!

There was defiantly more than 6900ish at the game today! The West side alone was at minimum half full (4000). It was the best football atmosphere at Stewart Stadium I have ever been too.

Weber did a great job.

  :notworthy:

My eyeball estimate was that the east stands were somewhere between 70% and 80% full. The west stands looked to be 60% to 70% full. Taking a conservative slant to it, saying that we were about 65% full, I calculate that we had 11,700+ in attendance. Paid attendance or not, I don't know. Any way you cut it, it was the biggest crowd we have had this year and certainly the loudest.

We need to build on this for next year.

Stupid article by Brett Hein. Maybe he was only watching the game from home, as any person with common sense knows there were more than 6800k fans at the game. If I can get ahold of pictures from the game, I will count the sections. Someone in the ticket office is incompetent, and only announced the sales of the day, not overall attendance. Also, there were more than 5 rows of students, take a hike Brett. When is the last time it took fans 30 minutes to exit the stadium and fight traffic all the way home. Brandon Garside tweeted about the mass exiting, which is indicative of a large crowd. Take a look at the pictures on Brett's article, as both ends are not "empty." One of the many reasons I no longer subscribe to the Standard, too many incompetent folks down there, including this article with lack of common sense.

I haven't subscribed to the Standard for a decade or more, and stopped reading Standard articles online when they started requiring you to login. Brett was whining about the attendance on twitter as well. Forget the number reported, that was a great crowd for a Weber St football game (and also the 2nd highest attended game of all 8 playoff games yesterday). I don't know what he or anybody was expecting, it's Weber St football after all. From my vantage point, the stadium was as filled as any game I've attended in recent memory. And just as importantly, the crowd was as engaged in the game as I've ever seen, and as loud as I've ever heard (probably due to the fact that no free tickets were given out and everyone that was there wanted to be there and were just there for the football).

:+1:

I don't agree with the statements that the stadium was packed but it certainly was attended well and the excitement and energy was alive. I'd agree with the estimates in the 11K neighborhood.

There may well be unspoken reasons to under report attendance at this game..., just saying. Think about it. :coffee:

Read the previous statements on our bid and how the money is calculated to pay off the NCAA.

The Standard Examiner is Fake news :ugeek:

I feel Hein was trying to make a point that it deserved better attendance being what it was, which I agree. But under the circumstances & playoff game structure, there were plausible reasons it wasn't. Season tickets sold are apparently fully included in the regular season attendance count, whether actually there or not, then they must add in the ticket stubs thru the gates(?). So the count here couldn't include that first aspect and maybe not the students (free pass). Certainly it seemed more students than Hein alluded to & as he mentioned, the atmosphere was great!

I remember an article in the SE by Garside, similar to Hein's column, but on basketball attendance. They both were trying to make a point on it all being "worth supporting". Valid points!

It's just preaching to the choir on this forum (avid fans here), but I get tired of several in the community ( even a few in the student body) who expect nothing but freebies & handouts before they'll even consider attending a Weber State sports event!! Yes, I know student fees count...I've been one.

I am a subscriber to the SE & it isn't "fake news"...perhaps more often than not maybe some "faulty news". But my take is that both of these sports columnists are avid fans as well & I appreciate that & most of the time like their articles.

As I posted earlier on the other thread...no matter how big or exciting, some people just are plainly not interested in attending Weber State sports, except maybe to watch/read it online or in the paper. :twocents:
