Possible Sellout?

Just something to think about. Stewart Stadium holds 17,500. So each side has to hold AT LEAST 8,000 people.

MH-112517-Weber-State-Western-Illinois-02-1.JPG

There is 6,000 people in this picture if not more.

Tal were you there? As soon as I saw the official attendance figure I thought that is way wrong. It was a good crowd. I imagine anything less than a sell-out to Brett was a disappointment, but the only figure mentioned in the article was the way low official number.

You read the tone in his article and you think hardly any fans showed up. You can't compare the attendance on Saturday to the NDSU game where we gave away way more free tickets than paid tickets.

Yes, this is where Brett lacks common sense. Each side has 7 sections, and each section hold 1,250, and each side holds 8,750 fans. He honestly believes that you could have put everyone at the game on one side, and still have 2,000 open seats. The reported total means only 38% of the entire stadium was filled. :willybs: :willybs: :willybs: :willybs: :willybs: :willybs: :willybs:

Like I said early, we just need some screen shots of the stadium and we can count.
Unless that's a fake photo, there must have been less than 0 people on the west side and in the press box. I now have a negative view of all those non existent people sitting around me

It kills me that Brett is so set with the announced attendance number, that he cant even look at it logically. I think someone should email Bovee and ask him why the real numbers were not reported. Still though, Brett just needs to concede that the reported numbers were wrong, and find an explanation. Again, common sense should tell him the stadium was at a capacity more than 38% full.

Haha, I saw this. He took exception to Wildcat calling his article "fake news".

Jay Hill says it was one of the best attended games he has ever seen but it wasn't good enough for Brett "Fake News" Hein. So he can't come here and answer our questions but he will blast the forum on Twitter. I totally saved screen shots for the time my Standard advertising rep wants to have a meeting.

Personally, I like Brett and I think he does a good job. Was that article one of his best? No... Yet, what can he do when a department states a number that does not quite seem right? He probably should have written something based off of the following title, "6800?? Huh, this image doesn't quite corroborate that number. Does WSU Athletics need to take Math 0950?" Still, I agree somewhat with his original preface, that the stadium should have been more full. That is all that he is saying.

Once again though, the SE refuses to ask the department hard questions. Instead of pointing a finger at the elephant in the room he blames the community, and fans for not showing up. No matter, I'd like to get Bretts read on this. At least he and Garside have accounts for the forum, yet, rarely show up. I wish they came on more often (along with a number of other fans who have disappeared). No one is every going to agree with you 100% and for the most part, we are fairly rational beings (unless we lose to UVU). Some open discussion and dialogue could probably help him out here. Brett, what do you say??

It would have helped if you would have been there. Maybe you showing up could have tipped the scales so he didn't write such an embarrassing story.

Matt Gerish Weber State Social Media Editor chiming in to support Brett Hein. Who knew WSU had a Social Media Editor? Does Weber pay him by the tweet?

Or any questions at all. Mostly the Standard seems to be a publishing service for Press Releases.

Yeah, that guy's a real douche. What kind of a job is a "social media editor" anyway? :coffee:

Generally speaking, yes. But when it comes to WSU men's hoops and football (and the Ogden Raptors), they are really the only local sports teams the SE actually covers with real people on a regular basis. Personally, I'm grateful for it.

Like, asking why Bruce and Downs didn't play and if they'll play Saturday?

This. Two really good players unexpectedly sit out and no coverage of that at all.

Okay...yes, you are right, I've traded out my belt for suspenders. But, even my huge ass wouldn't have changed Brett's view.

On another note, other than his random comments on my wardrob, Garrish is a good egg and does a good job for the university.

Says a lot about Brett that he'd rather bash the forum on twitter than confront us himself.

The complete audacity of fans to question the announced attendance of a Weber State game cause you know Weber always "accurately" posts correct numbers. Like the announced attendance of the last Basketball game. Do they really expect us to believe that there was only 819 less fans at that Basketball game than what was at the football game?

Pictures don't lie.

I am putting together a large banner style Christmas card for Brett with each of the fans on the East side of the game on Saturday numbered. Does anyone know where I can find a higher resolution image of the West side so I can do the same?
