With the score 13-7 and the Wildcats with the ball on the 28 and 3rd and 2 and we end up trying a 45 yard field goal on 4th down with a kicker that had no business coming onto the field at that range. I like my chances of picking up the first down with 2 yards on 2 downs inside the OSU 30 yard line.

The offense hasn't scored a touchdown or even a field goal in 9 months and 4 quarters. I will discuss offense later.

Well the players are on the bus with their box of KFC Chicken and headed to the airport. Nothing as fun as winning on the road and nothing worse than losing on the road. Long chartered flight home to Ogden.

As mentioned at half-time, the defense was lights out. By the 4th qtr and after the offense went 3 and out time and time again, it finally caught up with the defense, they where just on the field way to long. Valiant effort by all on the defense, can't say enough, 5#,7#, 23#, 54# and others who all played out of their minds.

Another big surprise was the strength we had inside between the tackles. OSU had us on both sides of the ball with some bigger hogs but our interior lineman stood their ground. Congrats to Coach Henderson the strength coach and making the Wildcats stout between the tackles. Amazing Play. Both Line coaches, well done.

Back to the offense. First shoot the OC of Weber State, lets just say it. No scheme, no adjustments and no imagination. Does he have any clue how to run a vertical game. You don't do that by emptying the backfield and putting your Fullback time and again spread out at the WR. I am sure the DB's from OSU were just wetting their pants worrying about a 240 pound full back lined up on the outside time and running deep! Or putting our not so speedy TE's in the slot position....Also same story, about our WR's, not 1, not 2, not 3, not 4 but 5 DROPPED passes at critical times. Where's the discipline receivers coach? You don't mind dropped passes from time to time when you have players that have the ability to be big play makers or have the sauce to break it open but our receivers, 15#, 87#. 89# and 6#. Have no, sauce or any moves after they get the ball. The freshman 85# running the jet sweep looked weak, scared and not sure what to do. The QB play has been a concern by everyone and tonight showed just why. Forget the last couple of drives of the games where OSU was giving anything underneath and under 7 yards, we are not going to win to many games when we can't pass for more than 50 yards in over three quarters of play. Balls sailing high, forced passes, remember you can throw the ball out of bounce you don't have to force it and through an INT! I could continue to rant but something has to change and change quickly with the WSU offensive scheme. You can't win if you can't score. To bad our defense can't play offense, maybe they can move Devonte 5# to play offense.

Let's face it NDSU will score a guarantee 21 points plus next week, how is the WSU offense going to keep up with that firepower? No need to be harsh in your responses, these are just the facts, things have to change on the offense with coaches and players! We have just to good of a defense to to disrespect them like the offensive effort did tonight.

Also on the positive, the new uniforms and helmets looked so chill, Thank you Adidas ...Also nice showing at the game from the WSU alumni and Wildcat Club
From the Hilton Garden Inn across the street from the Beavers Stadium, see you in Fargo!

I like the reports ncaa. Keep em coming. I agree, offense has a lot of work to do, and next week won't be any easier. In fact I believe NDSU is a better team than OSU. Going to be a long season for Gary Andersen's squad.

I agree with you to a point with NDSU being a better team than OSU. However, I don't think the Cats will see the speed exhibited by OSU again this season. Montana proved that NDSU can be scored on and Weber proved that it can play defense. We might make a better showing in Fargo than some think. Regardless, Weber needs to change its offense. Jadrian is a good running QB, but we all doubt his passing abilities, yet, once again, when will the Cats see that type of speed again. Those corners were lighting quick!

My biggest issue with the game...waaaayyy too many dropped balls. We have awesom TEs but three drops by them last night in crucial situations. Drive killing drops can't continue.

Does anyone know why the QB Hilinski isn't playing ? I saw him in spring and see he is on the roster, but then little mention about him.

What's the story?

Hilinski 16# who is listed at 6'6 had moments of greatness in Spring however continued to be inconsistent at times, don't know if it was because of the lack of reps and he needs more or not. Usually if a player shows greatness but can't execute then usually it is a reps issue especially for a QB. The team traveled with 4 QB's to the game which seems to be extremely excessive including a freshman that look looked liked he weighed about a 120 pounds was ready to play his first jv football game.

:agree:

NCAA, loved the posts. You put into words much of what I was feeling while watching the game.

SWC02, NDSU and UM are both better than OSU and I believe both would have won this game. OSU has a long way to go before I'd consider them a very good P5 team. I didn't think Michigan looked all that great vs the pukes but I think Michigan takes OSU.

In a different thread I liked Weber in 5 games this season and hopeful on 2 others. If this offense doesn't figure out how to score or pickup 2 yards in 2 downs, I'll have to change that prediction back to, say 2. While I was happy they were competitive against a bad PACx team, but it was only on one side of the ball.

Does anyone know where Zach smith was? He rush for over 100 yards last year against ASU in the opener and did not see him touch the field one time what's going on?

Found some highlights of OSU from Friday's game. Watch what happens to Satuala on the INT play. THoughts?? From what I understand you can really knock down a receiver in the open field if the ball hasn't been tipped or touched. Jadrian was throwing to where Satuala was going to end up at.

I missed that during the game. At least one official is staring right at it, unbelievable a flag wasn't thrown! :willybs:

He came out of the backfield, was still close to the line of scrimmage, and was hit just prior to the ball being thrown. Not sure if that was a penalty or not, but regardless the ball shouldn't have been thrown. Receiver was well covered and was falling down when he threw it. Have to be smarter than that.

There should have been "no flag" on this play. The receiver is only 3 yards deep, in the zone where the db can knock him on his can, check him with his hands etc. Clark made two strides after Satuala was on the ground and then threw the ball to the db. There wasn't anyone else near enough to be seen in the QB's field of vision except the db. I think Clark got a little too excited, panicked a bit and just threw it. Any game ready QB would have seen the TE get knocked down and see that the only receiver in the area wasn't wearing white. A major phoo-pa by the QB. He should have just thrown the ball OB. But as others have said here, he is not a great throwing QB. Supposedly he started because he "takes care of the ball". So now that he hasn't done that as well as expected what's next? I can't believe that coach didn't replace him with a second QB (doesn't matter which one). By the last part of the third qtr it was obvious that Clark could not move them so that should have tried someone else. At a minimum a second QB would have gotten some game experience against a quality opponent. And maybe, just maybe, he could throw better against OSU and keep us in the game. In either case, it is all upside. Nothing to be lost by trying it and 2nd string QB experience to be gained.

couldn't agree more. im afraid that we might see every single QB before the season is up. sooner the better-we need 17-21 points to be competitive every game and give our Def a little bit of time to rest as well. no doubt def can hold but single digits every game? not likely. so we need to figure out what offensive package our staff feels encouraged enough to engage. ball control offense is what it looks like and that is easiest to adjust against. we need to bring out some variety and weapons. change in QB early is always difficult but this year I see multiple guys taking snaps and hopefully one settles enough to get Clark to call a balanced game a give the def a chance to be great. we can win games but not playing off like we did last week

Hey, you are definitely on to something. I wouldn't doubt it if we happen to see all four QBs play this year. Our best one, from what I have seen is the Shaw kid and that is if he can reach his potential. He isn't the best now, but has the potential to be. I just don't understand why they didn't let Jadrian run more. He is a far better rushing QB who opens up the passing game with his feet. When he is running well, he passes well. Instead they tried to play to his passing advantage which is sort drops, 5 yard outs, and guys coming out of the back field, which, yes, plays to his abilities, but then he gets overly excited and throws a 90mph strike that the receiver can't handle. It might be that we don't have the WRs to really open up the passing game either.

If we are going to be stuck in the pocket for the majority of the game, I could see that happening this weekend and against a few other Big Sky teams, such as UND and SUU, then you might as well let a QB who can pass the ball better into the game. I hate going back and forth, but it is better to have a QB who is average at running and passing, than have one that is great at running but terrible at passing and vice versa.

I love our D and OL!!

As for the pass, yes, he can be knocked down. I think I saw where Jadrian threw the ball and forgot where the line of scrimmage was. Nice thing there is a black line to remind me. It is only three yards deep.
