Post Game Reflections: Central Arkansas

What is up with the appalling Attendance of 6,085 according to espn?

http://www.espn.com/college-football/game?gameId=400927137

I can't complain tons since I wasn't there, but what's with the 5000 fan drop off? Do students not count during the playoff runs?

What did it look like at the game?

Hardly anyone on the east side or in the end zone, home side was about 80-85 percent full...typical for playoffs unfortunately

Playoff attendance sucks nation wide except for the Montanas and NDSU's of the world. Sam Houston had 4987 which is about 4K below their average as well. I was pleasantly surprised at our turnout. It seemed better than quite a few of our past playoff games.

In the playoffs the NCAA gets all of the gate revenue so they can dictate ticketing policy. Students have to pay the same as everyone else.
As far as the eye test the stands didn't look as bad as some other stadiums I've seen on TV lately.

I'm pretty sure it was free for students wasn't it? At worst I remember paying $5 once, free the rest of the years I paid attention.

Not free, students did have to pay. The Associated Students bought a block of tickets to give away to students, but those quickly ran out and students were then forced to pay for the rremaining. Most students not excited enough to get the free tickets, probably aren't going to pay to sit in the cold.

Defense was fabulous. Held them under 300 yds of offense and two scores. Seemed like the unreasonable offensive play calling inside the 30 and two fourth down stops had an early negative impact on the defense, but they manned up and got over it once the offense stopped shooting themselves in the foot. It is a team game at Eastern. It was obvious we had a "tell" on running plays as the UCA shot into the backfield each time we ran it, hope we figure out what that was an correct it.

GG had 450 yds passing with almost 70 attempts. Yikes. Plenty of drops and too many long third downs kept it close. Superlative win and strong finish should be a lauching pad into next weeks game against a rugged Richmond team. Go Eags!

Still can't believe the performance from the D. Hampered by injuries and looking hapless against the run early, Coach Schmeds and the guys really found another gear. Reminded me a bit of the Nova game in 2010. This is a special team.
