Hyped 2015 class is imploding ... Player scholarships are being pulled and student-athletes are being forced out ... so how can the same rocket scientist be trusted to make these decisions that f'uped the 2015 decisions...? I have been coaching / training / recruiting student-athletes for nearly 20 years now and it is really disgusting when Sac State gets to this point...

You know this happens everywhere, the chances of a full class making it through is nearly impossible, usually 50% make it. Who is leaving?

Looks like the Hornet's could be running the ball a lot next year with 4 quality backs coming in the Fall.

Okay, here's my list of who is not on the 2017 roster that was not a senior last year:
Jordan Thomas DB
Marcus Green DB
Remmy Nerio DB
Nick Melchor DB
John Wagstaff LB
Tyree Thompson LB
Casey Longaker DL
Ernie Timoteo RB
PJ Johnson DL
Xavier Hernandez LB
John Canes K
James McBride OL
Rajaee Jordan OL
George Uribe OL
John Cortez TE

I'm sure there are more, but this was my simple matchup of the 2016 vs 2017 roster.

Okay, here's my list of who is not on the 2017 roster that was not a senior last year:
Jordan Thomas DB Injured while time at sac state
Marcus Green DB Got hurt in Game last season ended career
Remmy Nerio DB Habe no idea
Nick Melchor DB walk on that graduated last year
John Wagstaff LB Walk in that play sparing
Tyree Thompson LB 2015 class that you mentioned
Casey Longaker DL 2015 class that you mentioned
Ernie Timoteo RB word is he flunked out
PJ Johnson DL 2014 class, a lot of injuries
Xavier Hernandez LB walk on
John Canes K walk on had one KO and was terrible
James McBride OL not sure, grey shirt kid
Rajaee Jordan OL graduated but still had one season
George Uribe OL not sure
John Cortez TE graduated did not play one snap last season.

So based on that list not too bad

I'm sure there are more, but this was my simple matchup of the 2016 vs 2017 roster.

This is only an issue if it is significantly higher than past seasons, or if there is a pattern with these departures (grades, off the field issues, health, etc). Based on what OH has indicated, doesn’t look like anything too alarming since a considerable number of the departures were walk-ons which won’t ding the APR.

posted list is not complete ... will have to wait for the Fall roster ... basically, stepbrothers overbooked - ... more JUCO's on the way, and not enough money to fund, so a purge. Completely agree that a given class will never really end up with more than probably 40-50% surviving, but it is in the manner this is taking place. I understand there are some pretty pissed off HS coaches ... sacrificing all long-term program building for a magic number of wins ... very shortsighted...

obviously the current staff cant develop players so they are just trying to connect the dots.
he goes 8-3 next year (hahaha) and then 3-8 the next (optimistic), not continual exhibition of HC management skills. i think sears is a 2-9er at best.

Angus McClure makes $320,00 as UCLA defensive line coach. The UCLA defensive coordinator makes $510,000. Why would he come back to Sac State ? http://www.bruinsnation.com/ucla_bruin_football/2015/12/10/9885582/ucla-football-staff-is-the-top-paid-in-pac-12

Angus McClure is the answer. Period.

OH Yeah UCLA does a great job in developing players and winning, not even a Bowl Game. Give me a break. He Could be looking for a job next year, because they maybe on the way out. Could be just good timing. McClure would be just like Gould across the way.

Check out the top 5!

It indeed would be a huge step down in pay / competitive level for Angus in order to get his first HC gig...for anyone to infer that UCLA's struggles last year de-value Angus is any way is simply stupid ... Honestly, I think he is better than Sac State ... President and AD included. Like to see him land a MW shot like the ASU guy landed at Nevada ... or at a minimum, top tier FCS ... stepbrothers are creating some damage that it will take the next guy a while to repair. Starting to sound like we have a third stepbrother...

So a coach is only mentioned when you choose into the losing? All I hear is how bad the staff at Sac State. Where has he earned a spot at a HC at the FBS level? Hasn't even been a Coordinator

See Jay Norvell - HC - Nevada ... WR Coach at Texas/ASU (Passing Game Coordinator as well) ... great recruiter ... stepping up from POWER 5 position coach to a low-tier FCS, with his recruiting ability and access to possible staff ... it's not like we are talking James Madison or NDSU here ... I see some Ed Orgeron in Angus

I would say for FCS but you were saying FBS. I would not want to compare anyone to Ogeron

If we want Sac State to grow to a very competitive winning program, where we can tremendously grow fan support and add a lot of NorCal business support, than we need to bring in a guy like Angus.

This program needs a face to it, in order to get buy in from the community.

Angus is that face and there should be a campaign behind him to encourage that.

He is in his 11th year with UCLA. Not because he is just a nice guy.
He has coached both sides of the ball and special teams.
He has been the recruiting coordinator at UCLA for 8+ years.
He has personally recruited a lot of players now in the NFL.
He has the support of the Mattos era Hornets.
He has the support of the Volek era Hornets.
Ask Greg Knapp what he thinks?
He has a lot of Nor Cal business contacts that want him in the position.
He has most of the California High School/JC coaches in his back pocket. They love him.
Angus coached with Jay Norvell (UNR Wolfpack HC) at Nebraska and UCLA. There were talks of Jay wanting Angus as DC at UNR. My guess is Angus wants to be a HC next. Just a guess.
He has a lot of coaches around the country that want to coach for him.
Yes... It looks like he makes a great salary, but also lives in an expensive part of LA.
Yes... Sac State needs to bump up the HC Salary and benefits to be competitive.
UC Davis has already done it with Hawk and we are sitting on our hands.

Someone should ask Hawk if he wants to compete with Angus at both recruiting and the Causeway. My guess is he does not.

Let's quit saying that Angus does not want it or can't do it...

I can't think of a better candidate that we may have a chance to hire and get behind and support a program we can all be proud of.

Plus, it will sell as a great story! "Former player and Coach returns to his alma mater and builds a power house program for years to come!"

Let's make it happen...

Sac State doesn't really compete against Davis for recruits, really only on the field. Different type of kids attending these schools academically.
