Potential problem?

After last night it is clear to me we need to work a little more on breaking a press. 8 turnovers in 10 minutes? Pathetic. But then again every time we have been pressed this year we don't attack. It's just center to the wing them back to the center and we walk up the floor. If other teams see we can't break a press I see us getting the press every game. We gotta get that ball up the floor and attack.

I don't know why we don't attack more. It's a huge mystery/frustration!! Every year, I think we have all the tools necessary to break a press and every year I'm highly disappointed in our inability to break the press. Martin had is guys ready, they had a solid game plan in place to throw us off last night. I liked how he would have his guys press at times and then back off into a matchup zone. Killed us. There were times last night our guys looked like lost sheep. Granted, you could tell the team was tired, but nonetheless, we weren't ready.

Other problems...staying focused and toughness. Weber can't afford to take anyone lightly. Our 3's haven't been falling for us, but the Cats refuse to go away from that part of their offense. It is getting frustrating. Way to many desperation 3's last night.

I agree with both of you. Our press attack hasn't changed in 5 years and it hasn't been effective in 5 years. Isn't it time that we see a little creativity or flexability here. Come on guys, instead of always trying to stretch a zone press, just once can't you try to flood the zone or compress the zone to go over it? We have become so predictable in our zone press attack, it is becoming real easy for teams to use it on us. If I were an opposing coach, I would do it all game long. We are not a threat to attack it, we seldom score off it and we often turn it over. Worst of all, we don't have any alternative answers to it. For a team that has as many sets, on offense, as we have, why do we only have one zone press attack? :yikes:

Please, coaches, go to press attack school over the off season. :twocents:
