potential Redshirt decisions according to Jim Allen

Apparently it's not set in stone, but here is what Jim Allen reported today regarding our incoming frosh. As expected, more than a few may be active this season:

"No final decisions have been made on redshirts, but Baldwin said several true freshmen have made a case to play this fall. They include running backs Sam McPherson and Malcolm Williams Jr., defensive linemen Jim Townsend and Keenan Williams and linebacker Ketner Kupp."

I'm sure this week's practices will potentially impact if names are added or dropped from this list. Injuries could impact some of the decisions.

Getting real excited to see what this years team will look like. Lot of good young talent that got experience last year and from the sounds of it, some new guys with some serious talent.

I wouldn't be surprised to see 2 or 3 freshman OL suit up considering most of the OL are seniors.
I agree 100%, and injuries may determine which kids come up active. We have had a few upperclassmen OL not practice for a week now, and whatever kept them out also kept them from scrimmaging. I think eventually we will see 3 frosh OL active, but for Oregon it's anyone's guess who might get brought up.

I talked to some OL today, and so far all the incoming OL will be red shirts. I'm not surprised because we do have a pretty special group of seniors and a few underclassmen should help cover anything they need this year.

This group will be together for the next 5 seasons (if you count this redshirt year) and I expect them to really do well together.

The list originally mentioned by Jim Allen is probably close to right on.

The played the entire Frosh Class OL on the 2nd, 4th, and 6th series of offense on scrimmage #2.

They played well and I thought we had great snaps on both Center's parts. We did get beat a few times on the edge for sacks, but the interior held up pretty good. I also saw some of our frosh get pancakes on the defense, which I hadn't seen before. Jim Allen said the staff was using it as a "last look" at potential active roster players. Either way it is great to see them playing well together.
