Prediction Thread YSU 40 @ EWU 38

HUGE game! Eastern is playing the best team football since 2010 (Better maybe). YSU is a complete team that runs the ball well with a super quick RB, has a good OL and good/great DL and LB's. That said, didn't see anything on tape that YSU can do better than the Eags can counter.

GG, WR's and an improving OL can and will score and depending on the wind, can beat YSU over the top. Will stretch the field with RB's to the edge and extend plays with GG's legs to really put pressure on YSU to score with every possession. Ace in the hole this semi is a deep and spirited defense. Expect this defense to keep a lid on YSU's rush offense enough to force the pass and our defensive backfield is very good in coverage and negating the big play. 3 YSU TO's help put this away early third quarter.

Net net... Eagles WIN!!! Eags 38 - YSU 17

I would say 28 - 17. It will be a frustrating game against a tremendous defense in which the conditions impact both teams offensive production somewhat. The Penguins will only score 3 in the second half, and EWU will score 14 in both halves.

I'll go there.

EWU 27
Youngstown 0

IF, and that's a big IF, Kupp can go the whole game without taking a shot to his shoulder (again, big IF) EWU wins by 2 or 3 scores assuming their starting safeties are suspended.

Truly believe the cold will keep the scoring down as it'll be harder for Gubrud to make accurate throws. As long as EWU shuts down their running game and makes them one-dimensional I can see this 21-3 or 21-10.

Seems like D has turned the page, especially in 2nd half of games. Big difference having Zamora back in at LB.

Outside of WSU and NDSU this team will be the biggest test of the season for EWU. They are far better than the two teams we've played so far in the playoffs. Their defensive line is good enough for them to only rush 4 and drop everyone else back in coverage to blanket our receivers. Unless EWU is able to generate enough of a running game to keep their defense honest I think we could lose this game.

100 or more yards on the ground for EWU=we win by 7
Less than 100 yards for EWU=YSU wins by 7

I think it will be that close.

I think you underestimate how good this Eagle team is. I have been watching this team closely since 95 and I think this is the best EWU team we have had in that time, and that includes 2010. There is talent all over this squad; I think there are 5+ guys that could make an NFL team at some point. All 3 of our wideouts have a shot, one of our o-linemen (not sure which one of these young guys it will be), Ebukam, and Zamora are most likely. And there is a lot of young talent that I haven't named that could end up getting a real shot at the next level.

The point is this is a truly great team, led by arguably the greatest FCS player of all time. Unless something crazy happens like a bunch of turnovers, we will win this game by 10+. The only thing that scares me is how the weather might factor in.

I've been saying the same thing to people that ask, this is the best team that I have seen play on the red including 2010.

This team get another 3 TO's, but gives up a rare GG fumble. Unshaken he still throws 4 TD's runs for 1 capped by a Wilson nail in the coffin run in the 4th to put us up 42-20
