Haven't been able to get out and see the practices, due to having the "FLU". I was so happy to see Todd in the line-up on Saturday against Cal Poly. I understood he was done for the season. I for on is happy to see him on the field. Todd is an outstanding player. I was worried after we lost #30 Darryl Bauemonte (sp), him and #21 Bo Schuetzle are like our "Patroitt Missals. On kick off once they lock on you, "IT IS OVER" :thumb: :thumb: :thumb. Remember in Saint Thomas Virgin Islands my mon used to tell me, give your A-- to me and your sole to "GOD", because I am going to bust your butt. That is when I was a little BRAT growing up. Hope he and the other injuries get healed for the run in the Play offs. I am struggling with should I go to the game this Saturday, or stay home and watch it on TV. I did attend one of the games, few days later I got sick and have been down ever since. Did attend and watch practice for about 5 minutes before the BB Game last night, stayed in my car. Here is hoping I feel better for this Saturday. Take care. Go Eagles!!!!! Vic Wallace

They are in the middle of the pack in most defensive categories (except pass defense, which will likely be their Achilles heel in this game). Perhaps some of that is buffered by their two sub-DI games and the fact they played great when they stepped up and played Cal (a couple of atrocious calls killed them).
I think Eastern will come out fired up, but this may look like an Idaho State-ish game where even the losing team posts a lot of points. For recruiting purposes, this is a game that desperately needs to be won... Nigel Burton does a good job of getting in kids' ears. Hell, he almost took both Shaq Hill and Vernon away from Eastern late in the game.

They will definitely put some points on the board. They have a very good running back, and their tall wideout is a concern. MSU's big receivers definitely hurt us catching passes over the middle. This game will come down to who plays better defense. At home, I think we get the edge in this one.

You'd have to think it would require a pretty big letdown to lose this one. We almost gave it up to them last year in Portland; they played well and we just played. But the upside of this year's Eagles versus last year is that this team has a lot more killer instinct. When we get a chance to separate, we do it. Again, unless we have a total letdown, I think Portland State is going to have to get points on every possession or hope for a lot of turnovers.
But I agree, our defense needs to step up. This is a good test for them.

I don't think their pass-defense is all that great this season. I think our running game will be good enough to keep them off balance and hit a couple deep ones. Will also be interesting to see who's back off of injury for this game.
luckyintheorder said:Weird Stats for PSU, they move the ball but only score TD's at about half the pace of EWU with a majority of TD's on the ground. A lower scoring total for PSU in this game is probably in order, as many have posted in this thread. HUGE Inferno atmosphere takes it out of PSU early after EWU score's on big play or defensive stop.
PSU 112th in Red Zone scoring, 3rd in overall offense, 85th in overall defense. They have given up 35 TD's and scored 34 TD's
EWU 9th in RedZone scoring (60 TD's scored, only 28 TD's in Red Zone: Awesome Big Plays), 4th in overall Offense, 97th in overall Defense.
