Good idea!!

"Starting April 21 when EWU head football coach Beau Baldwin and quarterback Vernon Adams speak at Rogers High School in Spokane, Wash., Eastern will visit seven area high schools and one middle school. The presentation by the student-athletes will focus on an acrostic of EAGLE – Education, Attitude, Grit, Leadership and Excellence."

The intangible value of having a kid like Vernon Adams in your program can't be measured. He is pure class all the way around. I met him and he offered to throw balls to my kids at Roos Field. What kind of college kid thinks that way? I can't think of a better guy to be out there talking to kids and showing what you can accomplish through character and hard work. His parents should be proud.

PS--- love it when Montana fans try to make him out to be some sort of street thug. They wish.

Agreed. I have met him as well, and by all accounts he seems like a genuinely good human being. Unfortunate about all the Montana fans trying to paint him in a certain light this past year, but unfortunately for them none of it seems based on reality. Sure, we've had some "thugs" in the past, especially during the Kramer and Wulff eras, but I've yet to meet any players that fit that mold recently. I think overall Baldwin and staff do a good job of recruiting the kinds of players with the character we want in our program.

Over 800 passing yards, 9 TD's, and 2-0 against the Griz, yep, they will find any reason they can to hate him.

VA is a class act, the big sky and college football in general could use more student athletes like VA.

I've met lots of great kids from the Eastern program before. We've been blessed in that regard. Yeah, there have been some dipshits, but the number of good kids massively exceeds the bad (which is probably true for most programs, despite what some media outlets try to trumpet).

That said, I almost feel like VA is something special. He's charismatic to a point where I feel like he's going to be successful in whatever he wants. He's got an "it" factor that everyone wishes they had and almost nobody actually does. Not trying to blow the dude, but I couldn't have been more impressed from my convos with him.

Not to overlook some of the other outstanding kids in the program, there are several from multiple sports visiting area schools. I think this will be a very good investment for Eastern as a whole.

You don't have to look far to see how successful an outreach program can be to a U. , when you see the results of increased student enrollments at GU.

clawman, EWURanger, marceagfan5, LDopaPDX,
I totally agree with all that have been stated by each of you about Vernon Adams. Words like "charismatic, something special. When I first noticed VA, the 1st time on the field, in the huddle behind the center awaiting for the snap, I used to think he was a "show boat"/cocky, I apologize to VA, and I'm ashamed of my thoughts :( . He is always dancing regardless of the score behind the center, prior to the snap, and he has continued with his same demeanor. Now I can honestly say, I understand where he is coming from, very sure of himself, he knows what he is doing.   :thumb: :thumb: , glad he is with us for a while. Love when he has something to say, he always finishes with "God Bless, and Go Eagles", what a young man. I know this will tug at the hearts of some VA Haters, what a problem to have. Will be there today @ 4p.m. to watch the entire team practice. p.s., we do have more "Great Kids", than dipshits, which is in every program, as you have stated. Every time I see VA, he never walk by, he always go out of his way to come and shake our hands, and hug both my daughter, and myself. He is something special, and we have plenty more in our program, past and present. (CONGRATULATIONS) goes out to the Parents of all past and present, and our "Coaches". Eagles!!!!! Vic Wallace

Ronthewiseoldeagle,
We have had increased Student Enrollment at our University also. Thanks to the President, Faculty, Staff, Students, and all associated with our University, and outstanding Programs. I remembered when I retired in 1995, the university was at approximately 7200, students, now look at it today, approximate 13,000, and low cost, per qtr. according to numerous personnel. Vic Wallace.
