This is a key game. If the Viks can win this road game then they'll be positioned for a run at Montana. It is great to see this being broadcast on the radio. Is this an all-time first for the women?

Eastern has been doing well or at least better than they have in the past; it could be a tough match up

Being over 6' tall at PSU is like having the plague. I gave up after the first half at which time such players had totaled 9 minutes and PSU had been murdered inside. Kelly had 7 rebounds but the rest of the team totaled 6. PSU finished without a block for, I believe, the first time this year and had 4 shots rejected. D

Our "talls" dePaepe and Cramer din't play long because they didn't play well. With four players in double figures I'd say we did pretty well. Sure, they blocked 4 shots and we blocked none. On the other hand, we stole 12 times, they stole 6. Neither Hadj-Hamou nor Kahle shot well (4-12, 4-14), but this was an unfamiliar (and unfriendly) court. In short, a typical road game - but we won. I'm glad we've got Montana first on our own court. We have a chance of at least splitting the series. Congratulations, Viks!

What about Yankus and Wade? In the only game Wade played in for more than a couple of minutes, she lead the team in rebounds and blocked 3 shots. Yankus played some good ball last year and scored 20 in a game. The sad truth is that if you are not in the rotation you don't play come hell or high water no matter what the other team is doing. If you look at Kate and Katy's stats taking into account how much they have played, the seem to be awfully productive. You begin to wonder why PSU even recruits anyone over 6'.

Oh, by the way..Kate played 3 minutes...I don't know how you can say that she played badly in 3 minutes when she seldom touched the ball.

Is it possible that Wade, a freshman, is just beginning to find her place in college ball? Wendell Wright started the same way, a couple of minutes a game and not scoring - he looked confused initially, but now is playing a little more - a little - and occasionally making a basket. But he's still not playing much. It's called learning. Have a little patience. As for Yankus, she hasn't played much this year it seems like, but she goes in occasionally. Doesn't score much. Big bodies that don't know where they're going are, face it, liabilities. They've got to learn before they're played (and that means defense).

Posts are traditionally not the best ball handlers, when you are learning a system you don't want to have to worry about ball handling, poor ball handling = turnovers, minutes are few because turnovers can cost...practice makes perfect!!

What are people thinking about Montana...how will we match up...pro's con's???
They have more seniors...more bigs...morales ??? any thoughts

Montana has 4 seniors (3 start): Morales, Rogers, Lohman, Guardipee

Montana is bigger, though the biggest players don't start (Guardipee, Robison).

The Lady Griz are only averaging about 70 ppg on the season, but they are averaging about 80 ppg in conference. Starting PG Mandy Morales is shooting over 60% in conference and is averaging 16.8 ppg in those games (15.4 on the entire season). She is also getting 4.55 apg (1.86 a/to ratio) and 6 rpg on the season. Starting SG Sonya Rogers is averaging 16.3 ppg in Big Sky play.

The Lady Griz totally shut down the post, so PSU will need their perimeter shots to fall to have a realistic chance. UM isn't quite as stellar on perimeter defense, but they're still very good there and they're noticeably better than last year. Britney Lohman is one of the best defensive players around, so getting her in foul trouble could be a big key for the Viks.

I don't think Montana can shut down KV if she can stay out of foul trouble. She has an inside/outside game that is hard to defend. Yankus had a good game in the first meeting last year. Stopping Morales is the name of the game against Montana.

yes, KV has an awesome game....maybe Yankus will get some more minutes this week; what about Lohman, what's her game?
