PSU/BAYLOR

Damn, Baylor can shoot and we're not getting out to their shooters.

Down 14 at the half.

Need to get hot in the 2nd half to get back into this one.

43-29 for Baylor at the half. Baylor sounds too "long" and athletic for us. Dominic is the only one who has brought his game tonight so far. Coming back from 14 down is a huge mountain to climb but we can do it.

Bears claw PSU 79-66; Dominguez scores just 2 points

Is it me, or is Nelson developing a bit of an A-Rod issue where he puts up nice numbers but only in meaningless minutes? A-Rod will get two homers in a game when the Yankees are winning 8-1 but he never hits when the Yanks really need it. Nelson will have impressive stats, but they only seem to come when PSU is already in big trouble. Hampton, UW, and Baylor were examples of Nelson's help amounting to too little too late. Is their anything Bone can do to get him going earlier in the game? I actually don't mean this post to be a criticism of Nelson, as he is clearly one of our best players and a key to our success over the next two and a half years. I just want to understand why his stats seem to come in certain situations.

Maybe he just shoots more when the game is out of reach. Not sure. Perhaps it's just the nature of the game. Guys get hot and get in a groove and other guys try to get the rock to him, so rather than getting the ball to him early, it's a matter of getting the ball to him when he's hot.

It's cool to see him light it up and run off a bunch of points in a row, but I'll take an overall strong performance in all aspects of the game like he had against Montana, or the timely big shot like the dagger than he stabbed in the heart of Gonzaga on a night where he wasn't shooting that well.
