PSU @ MSU - Guess the Score

After the way our defense played last week, I can't argue with that guess. Although if you want to compare explosive offenses we might have the edge..barely.

Glanville and Burton have done a great job of recruiting talent there and Coach Burton has done a great job of getting the most out of that talent. I really like the talent at the safety position that you have recruited there, lot of speed on the back end.

After looking at the stats of the MSU/CSS game I don't know what to think. Same big rushing and passing numbers for both teams - maybe a slight passing advantage to MSU. Do we say they both had relatively weak defenses? Or do they both have hot offenses?? I'd go for hot offense and average defense. And I'd guess that with McGhee we're going to have our hands full defending the pass. Otherwise, yep, it's going to be another high-scoring game - in the 30s anyway. 38-35 and may the luckiest team win.

This is a tough one. Statistically, MSU should beat us pretty bad. Best scoring offense (MSU) going up the worst scoring defense (PSU). However, those stats aren't realistic since we played two Pac 10 schools and MSU played Ft Lewis (DII I think). I guess you could say that MSU played a Pac 10 program as well, but WSU is barely worthy of being called a Pac 10 program.

This will be a monster test for the secondary, and the defense as a whole. McGhee has thrown four picks this year, so maybe our pass rush can cause some mistakes.

If we can force a couple of turnovers and win the time of possession, I think we have a shot. Or maybe the ISU win has just gone to my head.

I'll go with:

PSU - 39
MSU - 34

it won't be 95 degrees(120 field level) in bozeman, and MSU gets two defensive starters back. sac state game was a complete fluke, throw those numbers out.

MSU offense has yet to be stopped and the defense will be looking to prove last saturday was not the norm. it's MSU's homecoming. hard to pick against the cats in this one.

PSU 17
MSU 41

McGhee is going to cause you lots of problems, 3 of his picks were tipped at the line in the Washington State game. the other he was hit while throwing, he seems to be more dangerous when pressured, he moves out of the pocket and keeps his eyes downfield and finds a receiver and completes a pass. Only been sacked 4 times, OL is pretty good but McGhee is very elusive.

I really dont know much about PSU this year but will expect a high-powered offense and a solid Defense.

Question.

Are the majority of McGhee's rushes predetermined runs or him getting flushed from the pocket?

His rushes are predetermined ie there are option plays called. Most of the time he scrambles to buy time for his receivers. He has a natural feel for the game and it shows. It wouldn''t surprise me if he threw a pick but it won't be because it is a bad throw, but more have to do with timing or defender making a play.

Before Sac State game I would have said that we would roll for a win, but our defense was definitely exposed and injuries take a toll. Our o-line is basically made up of 3rd and 4th stringers but they do enough to get the job done. I would love one season where we play injury free or limit it to 1 player.

It will be an entertaining game either way.

I'm impressed with the PSU defense rom last week's win, but it won't mean as much against a much better offense than Idaho State. I'll say it'll be Montana State 28, PSU 27.
