Portland State University athletic officials confirmed this morning that Vikings men's basketball players Jeremiah Dominguez and Scott Morrison are in a Mexican jail after an incident over spring break in Cabo San Lucas.
"We are aware of an altercation that Scott and Jeremiah were involved with and that they have a hearing today," sports information director Mike Lund said.
Vikings officials were not aware of any charges.
Dan Meagher, the father of the alleged victim, says the incident happened Saturday, that his son identified one of the players as his attacker through photos and that Dominguez and Morrison could be charged with attempted murder.
Kyle Meagher, 23, of Michigan was beaten about the head with a blunt instrument, suffering a broken jaw and other injuries. He was left in a street, where a cab driver found him, the father said. Dominguez and Morrison were later arrested outside a club in Cabo on Sunday.
Meagher, a student at Lansing (Mich.) Community College, was on internship in Cabo. The father says Kyle's jaw is wired shut, but that he did not sustain life-threatening injuries.

Jeremiah DominguezDominguez and Morrison are two star players on the Vikings team that recently made the school's first appearance in the NCAA Tournament, where it lost to Kansas in the first round. Dominguez was the Big Sky Conference player of the year.
"It just amazes me that those guys are involved," Vikings coach Ken Bone said today from San Antonio, where he's attending events around the Final Four. "I've heard of stories like this before. I'm anxious to find out what exactly took place, but even at this point I'm pretty disappointed. Even if it's just rumors, I'm pretty disappointed."
Dominguez, the pesky 5-foot-6 junior point guard from Salem, became the second player from PSU to earn the Big Sky's top individual award after leading the Vikings to their second conference regular season championship. Dominguez, who sat out last season after transferring to Portland State from the University of Portland, also was recognized as the Big Sky's newcomer of the year.

Scott MorrisonMorrison, a 6-11 senior center from Vancouver, B.C., was named the conference's defensive player of the year. He also was named to the second team.
"Jeremiah has done an outstanding job initiating what we do on both ends of the court," Bone said last month after Dominguez won the Big Sky honor. "He has definitely been our leader."
"I think I've set the tone for our team," Dominguez said after the honor. "Everybody knows what we need to do and I kind of lead the way, leading by example."
Dominguez, named the Oregon high school player of the year in 2004 after leading South Salem to the Class 4A championship.
Morrison, who had 48 blocked shots to lead the Big Sky for the second consecutive season, became the second Vikings player to win the conference's top defensive award.
