PSU Vikings at Washington Huskies prediction

Boy, I sure hope I am wrong about this game.

Offense scored, but six turnovers? And what was going on the other side of the ball? This seems like an engineered loss to me. Just weird on defense. I don't believe the Viks are that bad. Why weren't we playing all of our best defensive player personnel? It makes me think we just rolled over for the money and let SJSU score big on us. Were we courting them for membership in the MW? I hope that was the reason.

Personally, if the San Jose State game is any indicator of where our team is, I think the Washington game will be as lobsided as one can imagine. I believe the Viks will be able to score but I hope the turnovers are limited this time through greater ball security. Is another defensive disaster about to befall us? At least it will be a generous pay day and, I hope, one with no injuries. A Chris Petersen team working on all cylinders? In such case, I think an accurate prediction might be:

Washington 58 - Portland State 13 (two FGs with a late TD)

This given that UW has a self-imposed mercy rule. That would make us like Idaho. But, again, I sure hope I am wrong about this game. Lack of faith in Viks? Right now, yes, after what transpired Saturday. I don't believe we played a real game, one to our potential, at all. I believe we took a dive for political favors. Well, I hope they pay off.

Hopefully, all the strangeness will dissipate and all be past and overcome come conference game schedule time.

th
And I want a 21 point spread. No, make that a 31 point spread.

Broadway, did you watch our defensive play against D2 Central Washington? Did you feel confident about it as you walked away from Providence Park? I'm going to let you in on a secret: that very same defense is going up to Seattle on Saturday and then it is going to Cedar City seven days later. I expect our defensive play in these next two weeks to look very similar to that of our first two weeks. Now I am going to let you in on another secret: the Mountain West Conference will not be sending an invite. It looks like the Great Northwest Athletic Conference might be a better fit for us.

Totally agree @Broadway it was weird AND we are not that bad. But we sure have to make some changes or this season is going to get out of control. We can't compete with EWU or So. Utah playing like this...

WSU Kewg fan here, I know you guys will think I'm crazy, but I think you guys shock the Huskies (Mutts) this weekend.

1. Alex Kuresa - He is the best player on the field, enough said on that. He has the 2015 Northwest Championship under his belt and he will do everything possible to win the game.

2. Offensive Line - They average a weight of 332 lbs across the line, they are ready to dominate the line of scrimmage. Outslay, Smith, Keizer, Hanson, Bacon, Ossai etc. These boys have the attitude and are ready to rumble.

3. Roberson - New Defensive Scheme and a new attitude. Every player has spoke out about the difference between Roberson and Roberson, we will see a much improved defense on 9/17.

4. Speed, Speed, Speed - This is the fastest PSU team has been in a long time. Penn, Thompson, Vita Water, Tago, Lomax etc. The newbies will be inexperienced but will bring something that they haven't had in past seasons, speed.

5. Time of Possession - I think PSU can dominate the time of possession stat. The more they can shorten the game and keep their defense off of the field, the better chance they have to win the game.

I think PSU wins rather easily, say 34-17?

Washington is cocky. They're overlooking you and your team speed is vastly underrated.

Maybe so, but even with our success against the upper division last year, for us to stay close to UW would be just as shocking as the Nicholls State/Georgia game last week. We need to figure out how to contain their passing attack for us to have a chance, something we didn't do against SJSU (and pretty much didn't do against CWU either).

The Mutts usually have an easy go of it for a couple games and lay an egg. My neighbor is a Mutt and he says if Peterson doesn't win this year , they are going to hire Gil Dobie or Woody Hayes. Anyway, UW is ripe to fall. I,for, one will be rooting you boys on! You all are the classiest fans west of Nebraska.

Go Cougs! Go Vikes! Brothers for ever.

I've just used up my free reads on the Seattle Times page, reading about the matchups and stories all week. I don't think I'll be able to say that as the conference season rolls around. A Viks win would be bigger than the Wazzu win last season, probably rivaling App State's win over Michigan a few years back.

Looks like Times is calling for a 58-13 win for UW.

I did like the quote from Peterson this week when asked about using the WSU game last year to get their attention.

"They already have our attention. That team beat Eastern Washington last year. Everybody knows about Eastern Washington - and they beat em'. They have our attention, without question."

Nice to see EWU get some props since they've played them tough the last couple of times.

While I really don't think we have much of a shot tomorrow, it sure would be nice to see us come out with a quick upper cut to get some folks a little nervous in Husky Stadium.

I've got a birthday party in Portland so I can't make it up to Seattle (although I'd like to). The local bar is going to keep the Pac-12 network on so once they switch over from the Beavs game, it'll be on (Pyzanos Bar and Grill). Anywhere else showing the game? I'd say there should be a few with Ducks and Beavs playing at 2pm, and the game is on the Pac-12 network,
