Men's basketball preview
By: The Vanguard
Issue date: 2/15/08 Section: Sports

When: 7:05 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16
What: Portland State (15-8, 8-2 BSC) vs. Weber State (12-10, 7-3 BSC)
Where: Stott Center
On the air: AM 910 KTRO (radio)

Probable starters:

Portland State
G Jeremiah Dominguez
G Andre Murray
F Deonte Huff
F Kyle Coston
C Scott Morrison

Weber State
G Dezmon Harris
G Brody Van Brocklin
F Daviin Davis
F Arturas Valeika
C Steve Panos

Stars: Senior guard Dezmon Harris recorded 21 points in the Wildcats' win over Northern Colorado last week, including going 5 of 5 from beyond the three-point line. Harris is averaging 14.1 points per game in Big Sky competition. Senior center Scott Morrison was recognized as the Big Sky Player of the Week after averaging 15 points, seven rebounds and four blocks in two big road wins for the Vikings last week.

Just a taste: Portland State will attempt to continue the momentum it has possessed over the past month. Currently, the Vikings own a six-game winning streak and appear to be in the driver's seat to host the Big Sky Tournament. In order to continue their streak and down Weber State, the Vikings must receive contributions from a number of players on the offensive end. The Wildcats are the Big Sky's second-ranked scoring defense, allowing only 64.9 points per game.

Whooo boy. This is a big one.

Read about a 'black out' for the game on the other board. I'm on board. We'll be all in black on Saturday.

Well, since WiViking's predictions are missing; against my better judgment, I'm stepping in: PSU 81 - 65 !!

I really think this Weber team is overrated, and if (notice the if) our seniors and Miah come out and play like they can, I don't think this will be close. Foul trouble might be the only thing that could change this prediction.

Take it to 'em, lads. Protect the Stott !!

I'm planning to pay my $4.95, and watch on BigSkyTV !! It worked okay on Thursday (but no sound again, so I listened on KTRO, which was about 12 seconds out of synch. in the second half).

They're not too kind to the old Stott, but I think most of us Viking fans would agree with them, just in more gentle terms. I think building a bigger facility is the most important issue in PSU athletics. We need to win this game tonight! Go Viks!

BigSkyTV sucks !! I've been looking forwward to seeing the game, and it's not available

Where the hell is Scott ?? Why would Bone-head have him sitting for 6 minutes ?? I think Bone just loses his brain during the game, and has no clue what's happening.

Bone made that "hold" call on Miah with 1 sec. left. You could hear Bone screaming it over the radio, and the ref. listened. Good job on that one Ken !!

We win !! Or escape as TJ said. Even with a really poor 3 point shooting night, and with Huff in foul trouble. Thank you, wee Brain Curtis.

GO VIKS !! I'm starting to look at my travel plans for the next few weeks !!!!!

Don't care how they won it, just that they did. Already lamenting the fact that I have a class I have to give a presentation at on what would be the night of the Championship game.
