What's up with PSU website? I generally like the clean design, but it seems to me that it is optimized for non-wide-screen monitors, which few people have these days.

#goviks website getting a make-over. Mike Lund has done a great job making the new site fan friendly and very interactive. Coming soon.

A new-look GoViks.com will be revealed on Thursday. The Portland State Athletics Department in conjunction with web service provider SIDEARM SPORTS have redesigned the site.

The revitalized GoViks.com will have an updated look with several new features integrated. They include:

• A new masthead and design.
• Bolder front page photos and easier current story access.
• Quicker access to team schedules, rosters and news from the front page drop-down menus.
• Quick links to tickets and the on-line store.
• A Gameday box with immediate access to upcoming events, including live video, live audio and live stats.
• A larger Viking Vision viewer for on-line video stories.
• Live Facebook and Twitter feeds on the page that can be accessed and commented on without leaving the site.
• A Fan Zone page that contains all of the Portland State Athletics social media, gameday information, features and Viking Vision, as well as Viking facts and fan polls.

The GoViks.com site will be down for a short time on Thursday morning as the site transitions from old to new. Please be patient as minor updates may be needed in the initial transition.

This new goviks site is going to take some getting used to. The box for story pictures is larger, true. But it's crowded, and is starting to look like other sites that are jammed with stories and features and are difficult to get around. Remains to be seen if it's better.

Further thoughts - the bar at the top listing sports, schedules etc. is indeed easier to use - more legible. And adding the rosters under sports is great- I check the rosters frequently.
