Anyone notice that Pueblo is 10-1 and top ten in DII? Remember when UNC was a top 10 team? Sigh.... Those were some fun days here in Greeley. I miss them every time I drive past Nottingham.....
I've read this on a couple other websites. Don't know where the rumor got started but folks I know in the program say it isn't true. CSUP is generally not good in other sports except for maybe baseball and golf and doesn't have the financial backing to move up. Most Pack supporters would prefer to remain at the DII level. If UNC is having difficulty succeeding at the DI level, CSUP would have an even more difficult time. Yes CSUP thumped Sam Houston State back in September, a team that's on its way to at least a share of the Southland Conference championship and FCS playoff, but that doesn't mean CSUP is ready to move up. Most of us like where we are just fine. Better to be a big fish in a small pond than a small fish in a big pond. The RMAC just decided to increase scholarship levels to 36 as permitted by the NCAA so this will enable CSUP to compete more consistently with the big boys in DII. The T-Wolves are in the playoffs again this year and drew a first round bye and play at home Thanksgiving weekend. The Pack lost a close one to Grand Valley last year but should do better this year with a dominating defense and versatile offense. We'll see.
I attended UNC for a couple years and It's frustrating to see UNC continue to struggle; a mystery really. You have some excellent players and the potential to be at least a middle of the pack Big Sky Conference team (tough conference). I don't know whether it's the schemes or failure to execute. The system and coaches can make all the difference like they have in Pueblo. I hope things improve in Greeley. Good luck going forward.
