QB Battle

White and Howland seem to be going at it, but this is the only indicator on how has the edge, quote from Ian's blog

Davis praised quarterbacks Tygue Howland and Brian White: "The two big kids throw well right now. Ty is seeing it a little better than Brian but both of them are very good."

I'll still be suprised if White isn't starting against McNeese St. That said, I remember watching fall practice last year and being impressed with Ty. Either seem capable of leading the team.

Is it pretty much given at this point that the freshmen will redshirt?

Based upon what little I saw of Tygue last year, which I must admit was not a whole lot before his injury, he looks to have a quicker release and a more powerful arm then White. White tends to float the longer passes, but is very accurate. I think either would be able to do a good job. However, I think it is White's position to loose. At the same time, I hope Tygue gets a chance to be involved this year, as it will make it easier for him to be ready to start his junior and senior years.

White is a better fit right now because he is more accurate and more mobile. He does well on quick release screens, which are a staple of the offense. If Howland can become more accurate, and his knee stops affecting him, he could also work well in this system.

Anyone know what QB is picking up the offense the quickest?

So far sounds like Howland.

Cool! I'm very interested in how PSU does being they'll be doing a lot of the same things Hawaii does. The R&S is an awesome system that if ran correctly can cause major problems for opposing defenses.Last edited by on 2007-05-04, 22:37; edited 1 time in total

I expect big results if we can get the hang of it quickly

I'm sure ya'll will get it down!!!! I think PSU can do some very good things right away but in a couple of years, PSU could be a D-1AA powerhouse w/ Glanville and Mouse at the helm! Who knows! Maybe in 5 years or so, PSU could be making some noise on the D-1 level if Jerry and Mouse hang around for a while. PSU could be the next BSU!

Believe me, that's the dream for alot of fans around here. Being the next BSU would be a dream come true, although it would be harder for PSU since BSU didn't' have to compete against in-state powers like OSU and UO.

Excellent point! I believe Jerry Glanville and Mouse Davis is the coaching combination that can do that for PSU, though!

I see big success.......if JG sticks around long enough.

That's the key, Mouse and Jerry are up there in age but if they can stick around for 5 years or so, PSU could end up in D-1A! I hope I can see some of PSU's games on TV here in Hawaii! Should be some very exciting f-ball!

There is no other city in the BSC that could support a FBS school better then Portland, if we can get people interested it could be a future option.

I just hope if we fall under expectations this year people don't get to discouraged.

No prob, I believe in coaches like Jerry Glanville and Mouse Davis and I know for a fact they will do great things for PSU! I'm confident PSU will have success right away w/ those coaches but if not, it won't take too long! Look at Dan Hawkins at Colorado. Sometimes building a team takes time!

True, and Hawkins walked into train wreck but PSU has a solid foundation that just needs the right touch..

That's right! CU fans expected a turnaround right away but that wasn't realistic. Hawkins is taking over a program that has had as many problems as anyone in college football the last couple of years and it will take a while for him to build them back up. PSU on the other hand has a lot of talent, they play in a confernce they can win right away and Jerry and Mouse bring the type of systems on both sides of the ball that are very unique and give your ball club a chance to win every f-ball game!
