QB competition

Not many QB's get game experience before making their first collegiate start. West was fortunate enough to play 4 games in 2014 due to Adams' injury and Hennessey saw some playing time last season because of the poor play of West. If Gubrud is the guy in the fall, then it will be because the coaches feel he's the best option.

Something else that has not been mentioned is the fact that we have a new QB coach. He's a fresh face that comes in with ZERO bias toward any of the 3 QB's. That in itself could be a huge advantage at the perfect time.

I'm sure Beau learned from the "platooning" experiment in Missoula last and the disaster that happened there. I certainly hope he ultimately decides who is the leader of the team and goes with him whomever that may be. Leadership is the quality we can not see in a spring game and probably the most important quality in a QB. Which one is the leader and the other players rally around him and give their best play.

I don't think he wanted to platoon them. He pulled West for poor play and then Henessey got injured. Gubrud was the only QB left on the sidelines by that point.
Were we watching the same game? This was in Missoula Nov 14, 2015.

I would agree. It was a deliberate decision on Baldwins part to swap the players. No one was playing poor at the time of the switch

I don't remember exactly what went down. Hell, I don't even remember who started that game, but I do remember the blitz that took Hennessey out of the game. Also remember Gubrud playing at some point late.

The griz game was insane, I liked it in theory, but it was a disaster in practice. All 3 qb's has possession in the first quarter, and I'm not talking their own set of downs, they were swapping every 2 or 3 plays...kind of wild.

It was definitely deliberate and I could not believe that Baldwin was doing it. The drives were so fragmented and the mediocre QB play just exacerbated the problem. Also, remember Hennessy taking a big blind side hit from Tyronne Holmes after the whistle had stopped the play just as the snap went to Hennessy. Holmes almost deceleated Hennessey on the play and no flag was thrown.

I didn't realize Barriere was a 3 star recruit. Exciting times ahead but yeah he needs to sit his first year out and learn.
