QB for 2008

Yeah, I think Howland will be the backup to Hubel next year. I'd like to see PSU develop a QB and get them starting for more than just 2 years, which we have done for the past 6 years (at least).
 
Crazy to think that Hubel actually has more in-game playing experience at this point than Howland, and he's barely been a college a couple of months.
 
I gurantee there is one reaosn alone you will not hear Mouse or Jerry annoint Drew pubicly for ahwile. RECRUITING! We need depth at this position. I know we are 1-AA but still programs like USC attract numerous studs at the QB postion. I think if they go too strong about Drew now someone like Hagan will decommitt and go else where, my opinion only.

He has four 1-AA offers on the table and several mid major 1-A schools still call him weekly, Idaho in particular. Whether Drew or Howland statrts next year it is all good, but I think Mouse and Jerry REALLY like Hagan and don't want to lose him. Hagan can redshirt and maybe back up Huebal during his junior and senior years and be there case of injury and still play two years as a starter in 2011 and 2012. It took Booty three years to see the field at USC.

Who know how it all pans out, but I don't think you wil hear them saying Drew is the man of the furture hands down until after signing day.
 
We probably wont hear who the starting QB for next is until right before the first game. I wouldn't expect to hear the Hubel is the next QB at this point, as one game doesn't make an entire season, but 9 TDs and 0 INTs sure is promising.
 
It's nice to see the no interceptions. It's also nice to see only one sack. Does that say something about Hubel's mobility, the O line, or Weber State's defense?

It is a huge testament to how well Hubel meshes with all phases of the offense! From timing, pocket presence, and knowledge of the offense to make quick effective reads. White would have taken alot more shots down field than what Hubel did but Hubel picked them apart keeping drives alive that I feel would have maybe died with White.

Personally, I think barring more injuries or setbacks, Tygue is a lock. Remember, the coaches were higher on him than White before his injury.
If not Tygue, Hubel would have to be the front runner. He may not be as mobile but he's got a good arm and often looks the best of anyone in practice. He has also held up well in the games he has gotten into (see his TD drive Sat.).
Kavanaugh is hard not to like as a player, in that he has the attitude and work ethic of a leader, but he clearly has trouble throwing the deep go routes in practice and his passes often arrive late due to lack of arm strength.
It'll be interesting to see how the staff handles Hagan (and any other new QBs). If Jerry and Co. are planning to be around long-term it definitely makes sense to redshirt him but if they are high on him and think he can help them win now, who knows?

Interesting to think that Hagan will be a test of the coaches' future plans. If Hagan isn't redshirted next year, what with Howland and Hubel available, we will have to kiss our coaches goodbye in a coupla years or so.
 
Well, this question is completely irrelevant for the choice of the next QB. He's better - that's the point.

Though I really liked Brian and I'm sorry that he'll be leaving the team so silently. His learning curve and improvement were simply astounding.
