QB update

I have not been a fan of Clark as the QB of the Wildcats. I may be his biggest critic! It was extremely painful to watch Clark game after game last season. Always late on his reads, slow release, slow footwork the list goes on and on. However, after watching this weeks practice, everyone that are part of the Wildcat nation better become a fan of Clark's ASAP! He may be all we got! The reason being, is because the Wildcats have no depth at all behind Clark. Everyone better be praying for Clark to be injury free this season because for better or for worse if he would get hurt the talent drops off BIG TIME and I am talking about dropping into the abyss! The other QB's would not make another D1 program in the country!

The Wildcats are incredible strong in just about every aspect of the game. Jay Hill should be credited for building a strong program and team in such a short period of time. But Coach Hill better hope Clark does not go down. In fact the only thing that I think may stop the Wildcats from winning the conference is if Clark goes down with an injury. Wish they could of kept Billy Green around for an insurance policy. In college football it is very difficult to keep a QB healthy for the entire season. They just don't have the rules in place like the NFL to protect the QB. Just ask BYU and the U about trying to keep QB's healthy. This is an extremely talented team but how Hill allowed the team to be so poorly developed at the most important position on the field will be the only thing that stops the CATS!

How is this an update? Clark is subpar and the rest of the QBs on the team are untested. Same story as the previous two seasons.

Braden Miles: http://www.hudl.com/video/3/1651404/5721acc1e984d413d4ddacc1. Seems like a really good kid. He ended up with a 4.0 and had a 30 on his ACT. It never hurts having a really smart guy playing QB. Believe he is an RM, since he graduated in 2013 and is a Freshman. Don't know why, but he only played 10 quarters as the varsity QB. Might be more, just that is what I saw with his stat line. Maybe he got hurt has a good arm with some zip. Heck of an athlete. Was also part of that Lone Peak BBALL Team that was National Champs.

Hunter Evans: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FE7LRh9_oIc. Played at Layton High and had a heck of a nice campaign as a senior for the Lancers. He is a true freshman since he graduated last season. Was one of the top QBs in the state in passing yards last year. Bonus!! He has played on our field. http://www.espn.com/college-sports/football/recruiting/player/combine/_/id/178488/hunter-evans

Not going to say either are going to automatically help us. But, stranger things have happened before. It is nice knowing we have a guy who is 20/21 who is 6/3 220 and is extremely athletic.

Coach Hill seems impressed by how Clark is playing in fall camp. Let us hope that is a good sign for the upcoming season.

How do you know? Did Coach give an interview? If so, do you have a link? I'm just curious.

It's on Brandon Garside - Standard Examiner Facebook page....not really much in the interview though, did we really expect to say him to say anything other than the starting QB looks great. At this point Coach knows that a younger Payton Manning aint walking through that door anytime soon so he better build up his current QB's confidence as much as possible. And just a thought, IF QB 1 gets hurt you might as well just throw in another running back in his place since they will have to run 98% of the time anyway.

Not only am I concerned about Clark's effectiveness, I'm really concerned about next season, and the next. Coach needs to do a better job recruiting and developing the QB position. I see no QB on the current roster that gets me excited about the future.

I don't see us making any improvements at all without an above average QB. I see 3 local kids who weren't highly recruited and a Juco transfer who nobody is talking about. Perhaps, one of these other 4 QBs will surprise us all. I don't see anything from Clark that gives me confidence. Best we get from Clark is him not losing a game for us.

Before you throw him under the bus, don't you think that you should see him play a game or two as a senior. Many players make huge improvement between their Jr and Sr years. Nobody here has seen him take one snap in a game yet this year, but everyone wants to throw him out now. :ohno:

Many players make continual improvements. Clark has not improved even slightly.

Agree with 'oldrunner', let's at least give J. Clark a chance to show improvement before we assume failure. Maybe the lackluster outlook some posters have on all the Weber QB corp. may prove so, but a few of us have faith that Coach Hill & the new OC will address that as the season goes along.

Recruiting great QBs at the FCS level is hard, you don't see too many around & if any QB potential recruit is predicted as possibly with a Payton Manning like future, he'll be playing at the FBS level !!

A lot of blah/blah on players this & that in fall camp, some of us hopeful fans are waiting for an actual game to be played & show real results instead of conjecture.

Jadrian isn't terrible. In fact, he is better than a handful of past starters. What worries us, as fans, is that we have all the parts to make a run at a championship, except, QB. Is Jadrian a championship caliber QB? Can we get enough out of his arm and legs to get us 8 wins or more? Coach has perhaps the best defense in the Sky, a solid running attack, great Tight Ends, and one of the best offensive lines. The passing game is the question. That is what we need to worry about.
