Quarterback

Anyone know if Kaden Jenks will be here for spring ball? I'd think that unless he comes in and really impresses right away, he'll likely redshirt. No reason to burn a season as a 2nd or 3rd stringer.

If I remember correctly from signing day he is a mission kid...

I could have missed it, but I don't recall ever hearing that he was mission bound. He's shown on the online roster now, for whatever that's worth.

Just my guess, but I'd say right now it's a toss up between Cantwell and Shaw, with the edge going to Cantwell. Cantwell does have two years starter's experience at the JC level and had a really solid HS career.

EVERY kid they signed this year is on the current roster including Haze Hadley from Fremont who is a definite mission kid.
Kaden's grandparents live in Morgan and i'm pretty certain he is LDS.

Isn't Zach Hymas coming back from his mission Early Spring? Not saying he will be able to come back and immediately compete, but stranger things have happened. I was disappointed not seeing Riley Bradshaw on the roster again. He shot himself in the foot by leaving the first time, but that might mean that Braden Miles out worked Bradshaw this past season and jumped over Bradshaw in importance? :?

No matter, my opinion is, since Shaw is coming off a red shirt, I'm guessing Cantwell has the early nod; due to his being the 2nd string QB last year. I wouldn't be surprised if someone else shows up sometime this summer and makes the position competitive.

I agree with Cantwell being ahead but should be interesting come camp time. also other things i was thinking about is: Vollert 2x All American? What ever happened to Eric Wilkes?

Hymas left on his Mission late June or early July so unless WSU pulled some strings (BYU style) Hymas wont be back for spring ball.
Here is his last tweet, note the date:

Thank you to everyone that has supported me and been there for me in my life. I love you all. See you in two❤️

I agree that Cantwell is the favorite going into camp, but camp should be exciting. Vollert 2x All American? Wilkes ever coming back?

Kaden said he couldn't wait to get to work when he committed on Twitter so I would imagine he is not a mission kid. In my opinion I wouldn't be shocked if he got the starting job if he looks good in practice and knows the playbook. I did hear coach Hill say he thinks some of the freshman will get a chance to play right away I think Josh Davis and Kaden could get that chance

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL...whoops, I meant this Summer. My bad...

Spring ball starts tomorrow. We should know a little more about the QB race over the next few weeks. Although, there will be at least two QBs coming in this summer. At the very least we will know who is looking good out of the returning guys.

Who ever the QB is next fall, they will have a bevy of running backs and a lot of returning starters around them.

Let's do this thing.

I had some time and I was wondering if there had been any additions to the 17-18 roster and I figured something out. All the kids going on missions have been taken off the roster and those who will be playing are still on the current roster. Kaden Jenks was one of the kids still on the roster. That might change things up come August. Right now Cantwell is the guy, but if Jenks comes in and can play, he might be the starter coming out of high school. What are the chances of that happening?? But, he was a big time addition this past spring.

Guys who are on missions or leaving to go on missions are: Bartschi, Birch, Hadley, Lutui, Maxfield, Meachum, Pupunu, Rasmussen, Slack, and Teisina.
