Quarterfinals vs. UC Davis Game Day Thread

Sucks rematching teams in the playoffs, the playoffs are for playing teams in different conferences. EWU got one non-conf playoff game now its back to playing boring Big Sky teams!

I agree. Unfortunately, 3 of 8 remaining are conference teams. Interesting that Eastern played all of the other teams in the top 4 of the Big Sky. I believe no other conference team played the entire top 4 this year.

3 conference teams seeded...3 remaining. The conference was top heavy this year and with the unbalanced schedule you’re going to get this from time to time with such a large conference.

We can’t, on the one hand, complain that the conference doesn’t get enough respect, and then on the other complain that we have to play conference mates deep into the playoffs. Not ideal, but it is what it is.

Apparently UC Davis fans don't hold their players responsible for late hits, holds and other chippy play. Karma is a bitch and then it scores again. Not suggesting that a team getting rolled should lay down, there is no place for poor sportsmanship in all the forms Davis displayed last game. Always been a Hawkins fan, can't say I remember if his teams ever exhibited this behavior.

On another note, it you didn't see Hawkins post game interview, you should go to replay on espn3 and go to the end and watch. Dude was having fun.
 
I could be wrong, but I think the only MVC team Eastern has a winning record against is South Dakota State. UNI has bossed us historically. 1-2 v Illinois State, 0-2 v Youngstown State, 1-2 v North Dakota State

I’d have to look, but maybe throw S. Illinois in there as well. I remember we played them in the playoffs one year when they were the #2 seed.

They were the #1 seed that year; had that big RB, Brandon Jacobs.

Eastern won that game if memory serves, big goal line stand by the D at the end to win it. Blew a 20 pt 4th quarter lead to Sam Houston at home the following week.
 
Expect a fully engaged and mature Eastern team this week. It's easy to forget many of the players on this team have limited to no playoff experience as starters and that this was the first effort from the coaching staff under Best as well.. Can't wait to see this game, repeat or not, now that everyone has acclimated to playoff football. #LeaveNoDoubt
