Quarterfinals vs. UC Davis Game Day Thread

Got this off the Aggie board. If true, I watched most of that game and the officiating was top notch. Hope a trip west doesn't wear them out.

The refs we had in the UNI game were from the Patriot league and it looks like the refs for the EWU will be from the Southern Conference. The Southern Conference crew previously worked the Duquesne @ Towson game and the JMU @ Colgate game.

See the temps will be in the low 30's this week. Know the Aggies fans think this is cold. Was just remembering the quarterfinal against Richmond and believe the temps were in the teens. I know my wife and I were in attendance, completely layered, wool everything and two sleeping bags and I couldn't feel my feet for about a week afterwards. Now that was cold. Interestingly, we ran into the father of the center for Richmond at the airport the next day and he couldn't believe how Eastern had dismantled the Spiders in that game. Want to say Rocco announced the move to Delaware shortly afterwards too. Even with injuries on D, am feeling this good about the Eags this week. I think having seen Davis recently works just as much in Eastern's favor. Eastern hasn't played down to any competition this season and isn't about to start.

If I was Hawkins knowing the DL is going to get pressure would get the ball out to the egde quickly and try to create man on man situations for his athletes, leave the back in to block on slower developing plays and attack the edge with the running game. Eastern should light it's hair and fire and overload the pressure on some downs and drop into mixed zones after faking a pre-snap blitz look and run base man with over/under on Doss. Eastern is more than good enough to play straight base and still win this game.

Of course playing heads up early and tackling across the body will eliminate extra yards and "make them work" for first downs. Davis is likely to get theirs early unless Eastern can start causing TO's right off the bat and put Davis behind the eight ball on the scoreboard. If that happens it's Katie bar the door. #LeaveNoDoubt

Hype video off of Twitter.... nice one. Hear Coach Best talk about focus... love it.

Is it time to name the Eastern defense? It's been pretty good this season.

There have been moments that make me think of this scene. Good times.

Happened to glance and the 2-deeps are out for this game. Looks like Prunty is on the 2-deep as well as Karstetter. Good to have some depth coming back or at least available. Sad news in the flight report about Williams, and appears Matt Shook (OL) had some surgery done as well.

Glad to see Prunty on the two deep. Excited for all the Jr and Sr's who play in the shadows to step up and make the most of their opportunities today. My call is for every single player to have a Kedrick Johnson type day. Heads up.

Ags twitter makes it look like they are just flying in this morning for the afternoon game. That's a tough way to go if so. Know they are all young men, but flying always takes me a day to get full equilibrium/hand eye coordination back on the tennis court. Not exactly the same thing, but could effect accuracy, catching and coverage. Will take any advantage they want to hand the Eags.

Are we going to roll EB3 away from the LB's blitzing today or does Davis drop them into coverage? Eags haven't really used the rollout, maybe Reeder just gives EB3 permission to use his feet early to put Davis on their heels.

Good luck today. I think EWU will find out that it is hard to beat a good team twice in a season and the Aggies certainly are a good team this season

I think it's far more likely, UC Davis will find out it's hard to beat the Eagles... period.

Slo’s a good guy. Probably just wants to see a CA school do well in the playoffs. No harm in that...and I’d say he’s correct. Davis is a good team.

Ranger, How good of a guy can he be? He picked the wrong team ;) This is the Eagles year.
