Quarterfinals vs. UC Davis Game Day Thread

OMG, Coach Best is on TV being very emotional. Glad to get out of this with a win. Had a very appeasement feel to it. Eastern scored twice in about 40 seconds and stumbled and bumbled the rest of the time... Let's be apathetic to the cause of our competition from here on out. Maine doesn't look like they will care about our feelings.

Aaron Best pretty emotional in his interview. Good game, coach.

Clearly proud of the guts the guys displayed tonight. BTW, hats off to Coach Hawkins for having the balls to try to win the game on that 2 pt conversion.

Lets hope for the Friday night slot, that worked out well for us last time we played a CAA team on Friday in the semis.

Man, I hope it's Friday night...I could possibly make it! Or a later Saturday game. 1 pm is TOO early...for me anyways.

How do you guys have such little faith in a defense that has been lights out all half?

D isn't being called the way it has all season.. old 2016 schemes creeping in... at least on several long 3rd downs... BTW TD McPherson

Completely disagree. Up until that point, UC Davis was held to 7 points that only came from an extremely short field turnover.

Like your feisty demeanor. Let's win this first and then you can rewatch the broadcast and tell me what you think. Not saying every play call was poor, guys are playing hard and better than ever, just not in the best position situationally. Sort of my old issue with Schmedding. He's been a new man this season.

BTW Eagles Own the Sky baby... ;-)

Okay, whew I've cooled down.

Eagles carry the Big Sky deep into playoffs. Just thought it was weird that UC Davis was stopped from scoring the entire second half yet people seemed to count the UC Davis possession as an automatic score. They did score, but that's besides the point. Should have been cheering for the defense to get a stop, not tallying a UC Davis touchdown. All well.

GO EAGS. Maine is a tough test and we will need a complete offense to beat them, but it will be done.

I think one of the chicken littles from our forum works for Google and called the game early

For everyone complaining about our QB....I am sure there are a ton of teams who would love these numbers:

Eric Barriere, QB, EWU - 21-25 passing, 235 yards, 3 TDs, 43 yards rushing, 1 TD

Don't forget that miraculous escape from the end zone that would have been a safety with most qbs.

It's true. I think we've been spoiled with the QB's that seem to be able to throw the ball for 350 yards a game. He really seemed to struggle at times with finding an open receiver, but when he did, he was very accurate.

I'm not an EB3 hater, I think once EWU has an off-season to adjust to his strengths he will roll. But some criticisms are warranted.

For example, our wide receivers bailed him out often. There were so many throws that the recieving had to change their route and/or stoop to catch and it killed their ability to gain yards after the catch. You can also notice that our game plan has shifted far away from the deep balls that are usually our bread and butter.

But you're right, we have been spoiled. I am confident he will carry the QBU tradition very well eventually.
