Question about pro sports in Portland

What are all of the pro and semi-pro teams, regardless of sport, in Portland besides the NBA's Trail Blazers?

Thanks.

What leagues are they in?

Portland Lumberjax indoor lacrosse- National Lacrosse League (supposedly the highest level of indoor in North America)

Portland Beavers baseball- Pacific Coast League (AAA)

Portland Timbers soccer- United Soccer Leagues First Division (officially second division in America)

Portland Winter Hawks hockey- Western Hockey League (part of the Canadian junior hockey system, from where a majority or at least plurality of NHL players are drafted)

(Should I mention Salem's NWL team or the various area IBL teams?)

Wyokie, what Pounder said is as good as it gets, Portland has alot of great teams in town that the fans love.

I say Paul Allen wises up and sells the Blazers for an NFL expansion team or gets outa dodge. Yeah I know the crisis of the Portland market but I can realistically see that happening in the near future, /users/31/07/37/smiles/smily19.gif 4Life

Realistically?

Ever meet Tom Potter?

Ever encounter the Portland electorate?

Is there a suburb crazy enough to fund it?

Is there a private function willing to spend 2 billion to get a team and kick start operations?

It's good to dream. That's a good dream. It's not the way to bet for at least 20 years.

Did I say realistic? I meant theoretically. Hey, it was 4:30 in the morning when I said that. I had been dreaming 5 minutes prior so maybe it is a dream but can you blame me for trying. I guess I was speaking out of my heart rather than using the ol' noggin.

The Portland Lumberjax, along with the rest of the National Lacrosse League, announced today that the season is cancelled. The culprit- the owners feel they are at an impasse with the player's association on a new contract.

ERRRRR... the owners are trying to break the union.

Given those player salaries range from $8K to $28K per year, given the ticket prices, one wonders how this happens.

My thought- we've seen the last of the Lumberjax. An article online at the O mentions that all the "West Of The Rockies" teams are losing money. I know they're padding attendance stats.
