Rahe to UTEP

For the record. Rahe never left Ogden.

And who might you be? If you're going to throw that out there, at least tell us why and how you know. I'm still waiting for our hard-hitting SE reporters to ask Rahe why there are reports out there claiming he interviewed. These guys have the same problem that the administration and some of the fans have in that they're fine with just enough and are too close to Bovee and Rahe and don't want to put any pressure on them or offend them.

Yeah, maybe he didnt leave Ogden, but that doesnt mean that he didnt interview for the job. Heck, he better hope that he accepted the job after last nights embarrassing game.

How long does thing go on? At what point to sponsors, donors, season ticket holders, and students have enough of this guy Rahe?

Brett and Brandon would never ask Rahe that. Rahe gets his way with those guys, and they know it. Too bad we cant get some prospective from the team players.

You realize that close to half of Randy's salary comes from around a dozen boosters? That is why I was blown away by the 8 year extension. That is a big commitment to lock donors into. It doesn't matter where the hell coach was when he interviewed. People found out and it is hard for players to follow a leader that has one foot out the door.

I do realize this, and I too, am baffled to this extension. Did he not receive the extension last year? We did nt even do anything special to warrant the extension. I would like to know who the boosters are by name. Are they blind to what is taking place here?

I’m not sure why anyone would want him to leave. I’ll speak for the silent majority and say we’re very lucky to have him at Weber. Nobody in the conference has been more consistent at competing for titles. Don’t forget we were one point away from dancing last year. Coaching is not easy. There are too many variables and too much luck involved to win the conference every year. All you can ask for is to be in the hunt. Some years you win and some you don’t.

We have a ton of ways we can improve the program, but getting a new coach is not one of them. As long as Rahe wants to be at Weber, I’ll support him. I do agree, he has room for improvement, but so does every coach.

I’ll take a coach that holds several conference records, can recruit NBA talent, runs a clean program and has the team competing near the top every year, over someone unproven.

I could argue this year was one of Rahe’s best coaching jobs. Tied for 1st with 4 games left and the youngest team in the conference. Doubt all you want, but odds are Rahe will have us back in the title game within the next 2 seasons.

I really get tired of reading the mostly ill informed negative banter that goes on here. Sure, Weber State had a down year this year. It wasn't for lack of effort on the players' part or the coaches part for that matter. WSU needs better players. Both Montana and Eastern Washington have better players from top to bottom. The coaches gotta coach better, no doubt. The last four weeks of the season were brutal. However, how soon we forget how down the program was post Larry Farmer and into the Denny Houston era. Picked up with Joe Cravens big time. Then Ron Abegglen had just TWO real good teams. Randy Rahe has brought stability and respect to the program over the long haul. It's easy to be an arm chair quarterback and second guess everything from strategy, x's & o's, recruiting, working with the bigs, working with the shooters & all that stuff. Phil Beckner was a great assistant & spent time working with Dame, mostly retrieving balls for him. Has he ever been a head coach? A lot of you guys have never played more that high school or ward ball. Right? Perhaps, if you have constructive criticism go straight to the horses mouth. Talk directly to Bovee if you have suggestions or to Randy for that matter. Maybe they would listen to you.......

Terrible post. "Not for the lack of effort of the coaches, but we dont have good players," Yeah that is lack of effort on the coaches. Had Rahe ever been a head coach before here? Nope. Phil I would talk a risk on, and I think many teams would do the same. Bovee and Rahe wont listen, but maybe this will once money is taken away from those donating money.

WSUfan; it's clear that you have some sort of intense relationship with coach Beckner. Randy probably spurned your advances. At any rate, give it up. Phil will never be the head coach at WSU. Move on to some other sweetheart. You are pining after the wrong guy. :wall: :wtf:

I like it. Things getting HEATED! Rahe isnt going anywhere. We can only hope that he gets a better schedule, breaks a 2-3 zone, attacks the press, & plays more than 7 deeps all by next year! :wall:

Well, UTEP got their guy. They really wanted to get Phil Beckner, but couldn't afford him. They settled for Fresno's coach.
