RB situation...

I have a source that told me yesterday Dailey's shoulder injury could put him out of commission for the year, but he was a having an MRI to see if he re-damaged the repaired shoulder. Can anyone confirm this?

If he truly is out, what does that leave us with? Sam McCowan and a gimpy Evander Wilkins?

Going into this year we thought we would be stacked at RB.

Hilliard - Double shoulder surgery
Wilkins - still injured?
Croxdale - Broken Hand
T. Jones - Dropped out?
McCowan - Healthy, but raw
Dailey - Shoulder injury/attitude flare ups
K. Smith - RS?

Who am I forgetting?

Well I’d like to not see them burn anyone’s redshirt. Let McCowan carry most of the load and if Wilkins gets healthier, start throwing him in the mix. Also what is Loelingers mobility? Is he fast enough and big enough use between the takles? The roster has him listed as 190 lbs. If he is physical enough to take some hits, have him carry the rock. The bio on him stated that he played safety. Give him a crash course in the RB fundamentals and let him have at it.

Also they can always use WR bubble screens and short routes to subsidies for the run. It will spread out opposing defenses and also set up the stop and go routes. Its not the preferable option, but I would hope that burning a players redshirt is considered the last option for the coaches. Depth on this roster needs to be established and we can’t have a lot of players log jammed because they are all in the same year of eligibility. :|

They are going to go back to Wilkins with McCowan as the backup. Kenslow Smith and Croxdale are applying for medical redshirts. Badger has played every game as a reserve on D so I'd go with him as the 3rd stringer.

I believe a player must miss 2 years due to injury in order to request a medical hardship, otherwise it is just using your red shirt year.

How bout get rid of the whole coaching staff. The players gave a full effort Sat. The loss was strictly on the coaches. Ex: They should of been aware of the fake field goal attempt. Sperbeck SUCKS.

The special teams have been terrible all season, possibly the worst in the Big Sky. If they have a dedicated special teams coach, he needs to go. If it’s a coach pulling double duty, they need to either give the special teams to someone else or hire a special teams coach. It’s mainly due to the simple things similar to what you stated above. Not knowing situations when the opposing team might run a fake, or punting/kicking to well known dangerous return threats (Toone in the WSU game for example). This issue needs to be addressed as special teams can definitely make or break a game.

Our season is disappointing with only 2 wins. The only teams we've beat are ISU who hasn't won and have lost 8 straight. The other is PSU who has won 2. The combined records are 2 W's and 16 L's. One of those wins was an NAIA win. I find it hard to believe we're going in the right direction as a program. Even though we put up a modest battle against Montana, I never got the feeling we could actually knock them off. I also look down at the staff on the field and I think they have the same feeling. SD Hornet, I couldn't agree more regarding special teams; they are terrible. Something has to change. I know, how about a few more Wins!!!

Sperbeck was signed to a five year exapnsion, he isnt going anywhere. And what is he supposed to do, tell the players when and who to tackle? If a guy has the ball, tackle him. It's just as much on the players as it is the coach.

I believe a player can get a 5th year of eligibility as long as he played in less than 20% of the games and its a verifiable injury. A few years ago Sac's Bilal Watkins got a 5th year. Even then a medical redshirt is discretionary with the NCAA and not granted until the end of the year. Kenslow Smith red shirted in JC so a med redshirt is all he will get at this point to have two years to play.

I thought it was 10% but not sure. The issue isn't the 5th year it is the 6th year. everyone gets 5 to play 4, that is the redshirt. The medical hardship (medical red shirt) is when a player is given 6 years to play 4. You are right this petitioned to the NCAA at the end of 5 years usually when a player has missed 2 years due to injury. I do not know all that is required except it is difficult to get and you can't count count on it .

You are 100% wrong... As I resported earlier this week it will be McCowan and Croxdale this week, everyone else is hurt. Dailey has major problems with his shoulders and may never play again, the rest of them are hurt and will not play. Croxdale was going to use a redshirt till the team needed him and he stepped up to help the team out.

Winghunter - read the threads before you post. That was written October 26. I would imagine that every single person on this board (and probably the city) knows the content of your post by now given that 2 weeks have elapsed since the decision to play Crox was made.

Two weeks since the decision was made to play Croxdale???? It's clear you have no idea what you're talking about.

Crox's decision to play wasn't approved by the coaches until last Sunday.

Please don't point out JimmyJuice2319's mistakes, it seems to upset him (my be that time of the month). :x
