Recruits/Players

How many players is Weber going to lose? I've heard that the players feel absolutely used. They worked their guts out for Coach Smith and now he has turned on them quicker than a .30 Hooker. I really feel for our players, our seniors, the new recruits, everyone that has worked hard and bought into the new system.

They should be happy he's gone, because they now know his true colors and that everything he said was BS. Better they found out now instead of some time down the road.

Now that an interim HC has been named might be when players or recruits request to be released. I don't believe they can just leave without agreement from the U as they are in essence under contract. Is that true?

I would be surprised if we have any players who came to Weber because of one guy. Yes, he introduced them to the school and program, but Weber is still a great place to go to school and play football with or without John.

I agree. If someone wants to quit because of someone else quitting, then they are just the kind of person we really don't want anyway. Better to know about it now than later. I think that our staff is going to do a great job and everybody will forget about John L and his shenanigans.

And, OBAMA for ever!! He's so nice I'll vote for him twice!!

I knew Eric Shufford pretty well, is there a chance that he comes back, now that Linus Smith has left? Will any of the players that were forced out or left, be returning.

I have no clue, but I think that a couple of the players may come back, but I wouldn't expect to see very many of them. :twocents:

Update on some guys Weber was pursuing at one point.

Trevor Hemsath committed to UNLV. ESPN has him as a 45. OL
Cam Keizur 6'3" 320 OL still hasn't declared for a school. ESPN has him as a 65
Bobby Keenan 6'6" 250 OL/DL hasn't declared for a school. ESPN has him as a 65
Hobie Sisk 6'3" 275 OL/DL hasn't delcared for a school. No information on ESPN about him.

Also, our coaches have been extremely active during the summer months and have a fairly lenghty 2013 list:
6'3" 245 DE Dakota Turner; Mililani Hawaii, he is a two star recruit (Scout)
6'2" 225 LB Beau Hershberger; Granite Bay California, he is a three star recruit and a mid 70s ESPN player.
6'0" 200 LB Lamarus Williams; Las Vegas Nevada
6'6" 175 WR Jeremy Morgan; Iowa City Iowa. There is speculation that Jeremy is being recruited by Randy Rahe
6'3" 265 DT Wes Moeai; St. George Utah. He is a mid 60s ESPN type player
5'10" 215 LB Garland Munns; Ephraim Utah, SNOW CC
6'3" 240 DE Lamonthe Johnson; Oroville California, Butte CC
6'6" 280 OL Keegan Schneider; Oroville California, Butte CC
6'3" 235 DE Siuea Vaesau; Pleasant Hill California, Diablo CC
6'0" 220 LB Albert Tai; Riverton Utah, Currently he is a three star recruit (Scout)
6'0" 275 DE Joseph Taufete'e; Santa Ana California, Santa Ana CC
5'11" 180 DB Montez Hunter; Long Beach California, Long Beach CC

Nice list...must have taken some time to assemble.

Anyway, Jeremy Morgan is planning on playing basketball. Suffice it to say, I"m pretty sure that Morgan is being recruited by the Wizard. http://www.cyclonefanatic.com/cyclone-recruiting/iowa-state-offers-2013-prospect-jeremy-morgan" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (he just got an offer from Iowa State, if he gets one from Iowa he'll get a set of steak knives indicative of a kid getting offers from every DI school in Iowa). In all seriousness, and I know this is the football thread, but Morgan would be a huge get for the Cats. The dude can flat out play. He shot 43.5% from 3pt land as a JR and is a 85% FT shooter. He can rebound and play defense. At Weber, in all likelihood, he would play the 3, but could be called upon to play the 2 if needed. I'm thinking Rahe will have to pull a rabbit out of his hat to get Morgan. He is being recruited by Iowa State, Drake, Creighton, Northern Iowa, and Weber State.

For players like running back Zach Smith of Kissimmee Gateway, it's hard to comprehend. He had an incredible senior season, rushing for 1,665 yards and 17 touchdowns. He has good size at 6 feet, 185. Although the 185 seems small, when you see him in pads, he looks the part.

"Yeah, I've talked to coach Rascati at Weber and they really like me up there," Smith said of Weber quarterbacks coach Justin Rascati, a Gainesville native who has directed a focused Weber effort on recruiting in Central Florida.

I have watched Zach Smith From Gateway high school in Florida! He would be a great asset to the team! His rushing yards this season were amazing! I hope you make him an offer and he accepts!
