Retire #10

I'd hold off on any comparisons between Kupp and Roos for now. Michael Roos was a NFL pro bowler who played for 10 seasons. I love Coop but we don't even know if he's going to be playing in the league yet.

Coop should be honored by the Eagles for what he did on our field, which is unprecedented. He is widely considered the greatest FCS receiver of all time. I hope the best for him. He is my favorite player of all time because of what he has done both on and off the field! But if somehow he doesn't make it in the NFL (something I don't personally foresee), we should still honor what he did here regardless of his professional success.

I would be ok with either situation, but retiring the number may be a more appropriate decision based on the magnitude of what he's accomplished. The big question for the athletic department will be how to capitalize on a player like Kupp while giving him the due respect he deserves.

With all due respect to you Mr. Swoop you just struck a raw nerve with me. As a collage football fan I just hate rating a collage players worth based on his value to the NFL. Collage football is a true sport played by student athletes, the NFL is Hollywood football who's players demand wads of cash to even suit up. Just like the crybaby millionaire (on my side of the mountains) who throws temper tantrums on the sideline while his coaches and teammates beg him to calm down and that's when he's not busy bitching about having to play a Thursday game and having a short week of rest. No Cooper hasn't played a single down in the NFL and if he never does that won't change his accomplishments as an Eagle and what he has contributed to the school and community.

Sorry, I couldn't help myself. But your point is well made. How well a player does playing professionally literally has nothing to do with college accolades. There have been many great college players that didn't do anything in the NFL and many that were relatively obscure players in college that went on to be NFL greats.

Retiring numbers is dumb, they should make 10 a legacy number. Create a tradition and something to rally around, nobody better player to emulate and start something positive than Kupp

I'm with you. Make it an honor to wear that jersey. Give it to the skill position player that works the hardest each offseason. I think that shows more reverence than retiring the number. Maybe give out Michael Roos' number (which I don't remember off the top of my head) to the lineman that works hardest.

71, if memory serves.
