Road Trip to Bozeman

My wife and I are headed to Bozeman this weekend to cheer on the EAGS. We've never been there before. What is the town like? Shopping, food, stadium, fans...etc? Is anyone else going? I've heard they only have standing room only left. We choose to go to one away BSC game a year. Last year we went to Missoula and that was a great atmosphere. I would expect close to the same. I'm gonna try to get an EWU Flag into the stadium. Look for it on tv in one of the horseshoes in the endzone. Any input would be great. GO EAGS!!

I'm going to the game as well. I bought the ticket a few weeks ago so am in sec 111 row 20. http://www.montana.edu/bobcats/seatingcharts.php?schart=stadium_seating_" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I'll probably be the red dot in a sea of blue and gold. I went to the game when Bobcats played Stephen F Austin so got a chance to scope things out. They have a nice tailgate area on the north side of the stadium. Probably about the same size as the Eagle tailgating areas were combined. People were pretty friendly then but I was not the competition that day. I did have a couple of guys offer a beer when they saw someone in Eastern colors. The town is not hugely different than Missoula, typical college town. When you come into Bozie from the west you will see several hotels and quite a bit of shopping etc. The west is the new area of town. To get to the stadium take that street through town. You will be coming to several parking lots as you get closer.
When are you going over? I plan to leave Spokane by noon on Friday. 400 freeway miles with about 14 miles of construction just inside the Montana border. 6 hours pretty easy and you loose one hour.

We are heading out Friday morning between 7-8am. Staying the night Friday and Saturday. Coming home on Sunday. We we in sec. 122. Row 32.

Bozeman has grown quite a bit since I graduated there in 1983. They have a Buffalo Wild Wings, Famous Daves, and Chicago's next to to the Hilton Garden Inn. As far as bars, check out the Cats Paw, Crystal Bar, Montana Ale Works, Rocking R Bar, Pour House Bar & Grill. For the best cheese steak hero in Montana, go to "the Pickle Barrel" behind the Dorms, ask anyone, they know where it is. Bozo is a pretty fun town, but EWU needs a BSC win, so GO EAGS!!

The Dick's and Howe's are taking their hair hats and wifes to Bozeman on Friday. We will be in the Dick's motor home with the 25 foot flying eagle and flag. See you all.

Newbie here!
Just wanted to say how excited I am for the upcoming game! I have been looking foward to this match up since I saw this years schedule. I have much respect for your team and think you have the real deal with the fresh qb. I like his style of play. I have been to a couple games over in Eastern the past few years. (haven't made it over yet to see the red turf though)

Born and raised here in Bozeman so If you guys have any specific questions on the town or community let me know. Its a fun town if you like the outdoors and like the college town feeling. Looks like the weather should be good starting Friday. 60-70's (perfect football weather). If you make it in Friday night, head downtown for some dinner and drinks. Ale works ($$) is a great place for both. I would also recommend Mckenzie River Pizza ($$)and The John Bozeman's Bistro ($$$). For bars I would go to the Cannery, R Bar, or the Pour House. The R Bar has been a Bozeman establishment for many years. However, in 2009 that area of town had a major explotion (http://www.newwest.net/city/article/explosion_in_downtown_bozeman_destorys_two_bars_evacuates_two_blocks/C396/L396/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;). Last year they opened up a beautiful new building. The goal post that was brought to the bar after a victory over the griz before the blast was rescued from the explosion site and is hanging up in the new R Bar.

Hope you all have a chance to walk around the tailgate areas. If you are walking up to the stadium, the tailgates on the right side of the stadium is the booster lot. There are a lot of nice tailgates set up on that side and I am sure someone will offer you some grub and a beer. On the other side (left side) is the student lot. Students are in the middle of that tailgate area and RV spots are along the fence line. You will find me in the second RV spot from the stadium. Feel free to come on by for a beer and a sandwich. I believe we are doin cheese stakes for this game

Hope to meet some Eagles fans this weekend. Good luck and safe travles.

GO CATS!!

Glad you all are coming to Bozeman. It should be a fantastic day for a hard hitting, entertaining day of football. Be sure to show up early and get some tailgating in. Also, don't forget to pick up a Blue Bobcat Cup.

Also here's a video put out a couple weeks ago. Should give you a few nice stadium shots. Not trying to be overbearing...just excited for is going to be an epic battle.

Question. I'm only a season ticket holder at Roos for three years now. Yes the red turf lured me in. I'm not up on my tailgate etiquette. As a visiting fan (headed to Bozeman) how does the tailgating work for a visitor just walking through to the stadium? Do people just offer up food and drink? Is it that simple? Eagle fans what do you do while you are tailgating and a visiting fan walks by? I would feel wired I think accepting food and drink from a Cat fan (this week), no disrespect I just don't know the ropes yet.

Superman I would def. offer some bears, I will do so to anybody in red. Just walk through the tailgate on the side facing North behind the scoreboard and all the way at the end almost behind the skyboxes. I will look for you, there should be about 150 people at the tailgate we go to, huge barby and lots o beer!

The Great Falls (MT) booster club does a huge tailgate open to anyone. In fact, I think they are generally the designated host for opposing team fans. They have live music, food, beer...etc. They can't charge because they don't have a food/beverage license so they'll ask for donation, which probably averages around $10. They always torch a teddy/grizzly bear before each game as a sacrifice to appease the Bobcat Gods.

Also, the guys from Bobcatnation do a pretty great tailgate as well. No doubt they'll welcome you with a beer, or zima.

Lots of good tailgating. Some are more family/business spots, while others are wide open to anyone.

I would suggest going to the Great Falls booster tailgate for starters. They ask for a donation at the gate, but once you get in all of the food and drink is on the house! This is right by the main entrance to the stadium on the NW side. You'll see a couple of trailers and a big ass tent.

So long as you're not wearing Griz gear :tothehand: :tothehand: , I'm sure you will be welcome at most of the Alumni spots!!

Looking forward to it!!

My wife and I will be going to the Great Falls Tail Gate. We ran into Bo Shultze's parents at Ted's Montana Grill and they said they will be at that one too. Can't wait for tomorrow.

Good choice, the GTF tailgate usually does a lot to host the visitors, On my way to my sons HS freshman game, but will be listening to another Cat win on the radio, Hope all you Eaglles have a safe trip both ways and enjoy Bobcat Gameday
