I read in the NYT today that USC is in debt 6 million for its sports program. I wonder how many other Pac-10 schools are in debt? Turns out the only team consistently making money is - not football, but rugby. They've won some 24 national championships. We've got an ice hockey club team; do we have rugby?

I wonder how the NY Times got that data. USC is a private school and doesn't release any financial data. I doubt that the sports program is in debt 6 million. The football program is a monster money maker. If it is, it would be a moot point anyway. The alums donations more than make up for that.

Sorry, I meant UC-Berkeley. I'm sure USC makes money, though maybe not this last year.
