- Benefit to raise money for Trevyn's Smith daughter's eye surgery in China -

WSU's final event to help raise the needed $50,000 will end on Saturday, you can go to Sportsmans Warehouse in Riverdale and by raffle tickets for the 4-wheeler give-away which is valued at $6,000.

Go get your tickets and help out if you can. Saturday night they will draw a winner and call you.

You know, asking for help from other boards is okay, we don't hate the Cats, we just tease you guy's. Can ticket's be purchased online, If so, how much are they, or can donation's be made? It's not tacky to ask other BSC teams to help out a player from a rival school, we all root for one another while playing OOC game's anyway.

Maybe one could post the reason money is being sought, I read something about an eye surgery but there were no detail's. Pulling on some heart string's may benefit the cause. Some board's may give you crap, but it's worth a try, I would do it.

If the raffle ticket's can be purchased online, or donation's made, please post something on Sac Buzz, I'm sure there are a few that would/could contribute something.

Sincerely,

StungAlum

Hi StungAlum,

That is very nice of you...I submitted a query to the WSU Athletic Dept to see if we can do this.

They aren't going to Beijing until the last week of November and you can only imagine trying to provide for a family on an athletic scholarship. He is married and has the one kid about a yr old and another one on the way. He doesn't graduate until next school year.

I hope the athletic dept can set something up online. I talked to Trevyn the other day and he said the cost will be more like $60,000. They will have to stay in China for about a month. WSU had a golf tournament to raise money that was successful last summer and another benefit a couple days ago. They had a concert to raise money but is was sadly very unsuccessful.

From weberstatesports.com:
Ryan Rae Smith is the eight-month-old baby girl of Weber State University running back Trevyn Smith. Ryan has been diagnosed with optic-nerve hypoplasia leaving her blind in one eye and nearly blind in the other. The only treatment available for Ryan is in another country and will cost, on average, $50,000 dollars.

We are asking for any donation anyone is willing to give. Ryan will undergo six stem cell treatments and be in China for over a month.
